don't make a new post for everything you don't understand. Read the other topics first. Bass problems have been discussed to death before. So try to learn from the previous posts.

surely its general topics.. but that doesnt mean that there have to be 20 posts that are the same.
There is also the workshop section if you really need extra help after reading the previous posts about similar problems.

ps i am chill, might be easy to misread the post as being an angry one. It wasnt.

Yeah, the laptop is still around. =) Yeah, I'm about 195% positive you called me out on the over EQing.. I am still VERY new to EQing, and I know from reading that it's easy to over eq, but yeah I am still a new producer, I'm on my 3rd year or so I believe?? Maybe close to 4th now... I have been trying to read the tutorials for EQing and stuff, but it's hard.. A lot of the links in the tutorial section are broken, and every tutorial I've read about EQing is basically telling me just telling me what EQing means and how it applies, and from what I'm understanding, actually learning how to EQ you just magically start to understand it by practicing through trial and error, because there is no "certain" way to EQ because every song is different, so therefore EQing and compression will both be different..

but not that different that there can not be an explanasion..in general synth sounds can be eq `d way wider (with mor boost/Cut) because the sound itself sounds unnatural anyway..you cannot do it with acoustic instruments that wide, if you want to let them sound natural..

with drums its almost always the same frequency to boost cut,if needed anyway..

bass and kick is mabe a little tricky sometimes..its the thing usualy adviced to start with..and mix everything according to the bass , like highpass and so on..

just let every sound get its own place ..to avoid phasing issues..wich means.. boost sound A 2db at 4khz and cut sound B 2db at 4Khz..if you can control two eq`s at the same time(mixer) then its even more easy and fun to find the spot where both sounds good..for example

it is not that hard...

then try to pan the signals good its a very important part to seperate sounds and for a clean mix...many tips out there..

When I started to learn about production it was like OMG THIS VB1 ROCKS... It dont, you need to much work with eq for him to make it sound good, and very good monitors so thet you can hear thoes crapy harmonics on VB-1 so you can remove it.
IMHO there are much easyer whay to make bass. Like cronox 2, or tau etc....           Never let computers to win a game! :)

yeah , VB-1 needs load of processing to beef up. the setting starts with the pickup all the way to the left as mentioned b4. Then cut the highs to taste quadfuzz, Rbass etc           https://soundcloud.com/jaadoo

Yep. Trying to use VB1 is a shortcut as far as having to synthesize a good bass sound, but then you're in "learn to eq and compress" land which I find is much harder than setting a filter envelope right.

EQ is just a tool bro. Like a hammer is just a tool, you can use it to nail something down or to smash it off and shatter to pieces.

Do not expect a perfect tutorial on EQ with specific instructions on how to eq for psy trance... this is about training your ears and understanding about audio, acoustics, electronics, etc.

Perfect bassline takes its time.

And yes VB-1 can be great but you have to take care a lot for the high end and make it sound nice.

BTW adding two quadrafuzz instances over bad equed vb1 doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

cheers.

At the risk of getting flamed, I think VB1 absolutely sucks, I don't know why people use it. I always thought of it as kind of a fad, like saying: "hey, look at me, I'm such a L337 producer that I can even make VB1 sound good"

Having said that, you may want to try other more versatile VSTs first like Absynth, Massive, etc... I wouldn't rate VB1 as a magic formula for psy...
