About to throw my laptop out the window...

Koozer Mox helped me get VB-1 because all of the links I've tried were down, which I appreciate very much, thank you.

I'm having a problem with it.. Well everything is giving me problems with it. I can't seem to get it under control, and the darkpsy basslines that I've heard come out of it are insane, and well when I try to make a psy bassline in general from it, it sounds like a god damn tin can, and it is WAY too clicky. The bassline I'm trying to go for is dark, similar to Frozen Ghost's bassline in the song Deranged, but less feedback/distortion. Does anyone have any idea how I may go about doing this?? I have absolutely no idea really what anything on VB-1 means.. I'm using FL for VB-1. Like I said in the subject line, I'm about to just chuck my laptop out the window.. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

haha. Move the pickup on the vb-1 bass picture all the way to the left, and move the pick all the way to the left.

That's how you start at least.

Get rid of click with highcut EQ. waves C4 at the end of the insert effects to keep the levels straight. and use some kind of distortion in between such as quadrafuzz or izotope trash. Quadrafuzz takes way less CPU and works better though in my opinion.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

When you say highcut eq, do you just mean cut out the high frequencies in the EQ, or highcut EQ is actually a plugin?? Also, I'm not sure what you meant by waves C4 at the end of the insert effects?? The only thing I can think of is the note C4, but I'm not sure.. A lot of the technical terms in producing are still over my heard.. Everything that I've learned how to do in FL, I've pretty much learned the hard way.. lol. Thank you with the help with the pick and pickup too. I wasn't aware that all the way to the left was where they were needed..

Highcut means cut high frequencies using an EQ plugin. Waves C4 is just a compressor made by the company Waves. You can use other compressors, I just like this one. If you tweak it right you can make it so all the bass notes come out the same level instead of jumping up and down.

With the distortion plugin, use it lightly. I believe there is like fruity drive or something like that in FL. You just want to warm up the sound a little bit.

Mess around with the EQ stuff, sometimes you can even use 2 EQs on top of eachother (so load 2 separate EQ effects on the same channel). Depends on how you want it to sound.

Mess around with all that stuff though, and you should get some favorable results. People on this forum spend hours tweaking bass lines so be patient. Maybe take a break and come back to it in like 20 minutes to clear your head and get your ears unsaturated if you've been working on it for a while.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

Some tips to get Vb1 more loud any puncy
Use 2 vb1...
Or one vb1 and one Alien303... try it out

Put Quadrafuzz on it.. even two instances, just with default preset...
also they way you gonna perceive your bass is also linked to your kickdrum...

Hey man! i think you use way to much processing on both the kick and bass... can you expalin what you have on the channels?
Of course you are creating your own sound, but this really lacks punch and definition...

Maybe try and not use soo much EQ and find the right sounds... also listen to some released psy and get in vibe with the punch..

keep experimenting thats the only way...

Easy for you to say, Mr. Blue Name

To the OP: Forgive me for making assumptions, but I'm guessing your still pretty new to production. The important things to remember is that everybody sounds pretty cack for atleast their first 3-6 years, and that you should be having fun with it, not throwing your laptop out the window... and also just play with all 4 knobs, odd little VSTs like VB1 get mastered with practice...
