I there....
The basic is kick+bass+snare in the middle, open-hat 33 right, close hat 33 left....
But about the other things??? Where you put the crash (i normaly put like 40 left but i dont now if its right. in the percussion i try to image a battery and i put the sounds like the battery image, but i dont now if its right our wrong).
In the synth i put the principal synth in the middle (normally i have two principal synth's
one in the low freq. areas and other in high freq. areas). And everything else i move to left or right(not in max value).
That is right or not????
But my principal question is?
Normally the synth before processed (like chorus delay....) they gain a large stereo image going somme times to hard left to hard right, and in this case what do you do. You let's then in the middle for not damage the stereo image of the sound, our you move anyway....
Or for example you put everything in the middle and lets the effects do there job in stereo image.
Sorry the confusion, and thanks....
(i dont now if this problem was discust in somme where topics)

theres no rules. bass & kick is always in center, but other sounds is question of taste and how it sounds in the mix.
sometimes synths must be in on left or right side, sometimes not. hihats usually are panned.

..see if you can get some good production video...then you can understand what´s important and good on panning...

my option (..no rules..) is for example :

Kick&Bass in middle

hihats and snare like you said before...

Fx stuff and those, about 50 right&left

synths, leads, pads, panned harder to right/left..

i love to work with mono-audio files for good results..

like my example:

Thanks for inputs. (I see that movie a good explanation about see music in 3d. the worst is that music do you belieave in magic i thing over and over again ).
But doing that leads... hard left our right dont you gonna lose "the sound of the opposit side??". for example wen we lisen a sinth with somme effects you lisen one sound in left and another in right our in different tempo like a delay. Doing hard left we gonna lose the sound ho goes to right...right??? our the left and right sounds goes to one place together.??

you can bounce the leads (stereo) into 2 mono files..pan these different! ..you can also automate these..
