Hi there. I am not sure that this place is right for this post.

What do you think about using factory sounds in production. I know that using the same sound is quite ok. But what do you think if somebody uses even the same ARP from the synth. Like Intergalactic - Fairies Rain - in about 4:40 - This lead is the same sound and ARP from z3ta+ VSTi soft synth. Hehehe ... What do you think about that ? Does this artist want to tell us that he bought the license for zeta or what ?; - ) - joke. Ok cya ... Btw. I like this track but this zeta lead make me hmmm a little shocked. Btw ... i heard some other ARPS from z3ta+ in other fullon tracks. No creativity or what ?:- ) Or maybe these artist where making the factory soundbanks - like the Vengeacne dude - vanguard and access virus Ti sounds designer.

Totally agree tons of people use nord lead,tb-303 clones, the matrix has been sampled over and over, the thing is how u use it, it´s all about imagination and creativity.

haha... sounds fun

-basslines are 5 year old ripoffs
-leads are cool patches (even the sequence)
-percussions then must be house loops from akai cds

way to go...

i dont think that u need permission to use a sound from a software (or non) synth.. In the other hand, for the movie's samples u need (in theory ;-p).

In case you haven't noticed 99% of the tunes out there have a 16th saw bassline going on.
Do you still think that using an arp preset is not creative?

50% right. 16/16 bassline is a music compo, as the 8/16, or 4/4 beat, or 5th/13th snaredrum and in other styles and genres of music.
as far as being the easiest solution for a bassline, then yes, it's shitty. i agree. but sometimes it fits, it's needed.
but a factory ARPEGIO preset.. lol dudes. try writing it down note by note even if it's as simple as C-D#-G-C2 x4.
and this is if you want to call yourself a MUSIC composer. You've mastered the perfekt kikdrum; now learn how to arrange do re mi properly. also using sound presets is some% lame, but on the other hand maybe not because creating new sounds is a SOUND ENGINEER's job, ain't it ?

sorry for quoting you 14-year old e-tard; i don't oppose with you, i hope i wrote something more interresting than just nagging 'gkrinia'.

You are talking about things that are specific for a genre!

its the same for any genre, you have your frames to work within but fusion is always a option.

about using factory presets for synthesizers,
well, i dont see a problem with it...
if a sound fits then it fits.

you can be creative in many different stages of music production, not just sound design.

hehe ive heard slot of penta sounds while exploring NI plugins, but it all fits in so well that it doesnt matter. Its not about how simple the sound was to get, but the finished product

Today's music is just remix of old music so it doesn't really matter what samples or preset you use but how you use them and the result of the track in general.

i think that it's a balance. I often start with a preset and tweak it. Sometimes a little, sometimes it will be unrecognisable by the time I've finshed with it. However, if all you're doing is picking out presets one after the other without any of your own input, this could be seen as being a bit lazy...

But no it's not cheating, only highbrow elitists would frown upon using presets. And frankly I couldn't care less, I'd prefer to make music that I like, rather than worry about what the chin strokers think. Also at the end of the day it's the average punter that counts, and they don't give a shit if its a preset- huh, what's a preset? In fact I'd go as far as to say that they actually like it because they become familar with sounds and they can relate to them, just like the 303 after 20+ years.

Compare this to other styles of music. Eg. in rock a Les Paul guitar and Fender amp. Now you get a certain sound from this combo yeah? And it sounds great, yeah? People don't buy a Fender amp and then open the back up and start fucking around with the circuits to create their 'own sound'. In fact it's this 'standard' sound that they strive for, save up all their cash so that they can buy the Les Paul guitar and Fender amp. Once they've got the tools, then they write and perform a wicked new song- and that is the point...

Our synths are our instruments so we are lucky to be blessed with so many options in the first place. If the track rocks, then it rocks. The people who design the presets do a brilliant job, and when you pay for the synth you get these patches to use, you use them! It's kind of like respct to the designers anyway, nothing wrong with that...
