in the sequencer you see an automation of volume and more down you'll see the automation of the volume of the loop (one kick loop)...

Not enough effort, I'd say  If you're going to demonstrate something, you need to demonstrate it properly otherwise misunerstandings like this can happen! No worries though, you were quite right with what you meant to show.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

As part of their unending commitment to provide the very best service to existing and prospective customers Steinberg does not provide any demo.
So I guess they either like you to just fork out to try it, go with another product from a company with more reasonable policies or acquire a "demo" by for example p2p networks.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

As has been said by many others, the key lies with your knowledge, skills, experiences and creativity. Many hosts these days offer such an advanced level of features that you can pretty much do anything, so it comes down to a) using specific tools for specific tasks and b) finding the best possible solution for you and your setup.

I can't remember ever hearing a track and thinking 'oh no! that fade sounded like it took two tracks! how rubbish!'. The end result is what matters and i guess looking at the musicians I admire almost all the bases are covered. We are spoilt for choice and a better more productive community for it

My own setup at the moment is focussed around Live & REAPER. I love both, but I tend to spend 90% of my studio time running Live. Since a lot of very good points have already been made, I'll just offer brief pros and cons for Live as I see it:

Bad:

- no automation curves. WHY GOD WHY!!!!!?!?!?
- midi editing could be improved a lot. It would be nice to be able to draw lines of midi notes like Cubase does!
- No surround support. It sucks having to set up aux busses and think about pan levels instead of grabbing a surround panner.

Good:

- inspiring and direct way of capturing musical ideas. The session view might just change the way you work forever.
- everything visible on one screen (ok, two with tab). No more endless clicking of submenus just to achieve something simple.
- I think it sounds great, actually.

I will also say something about Ableton the company. They offer a new version practically every year; the upgrades are usually EU 100; they do public beta testing and are quick to implement new stuff; they provide you with a couple of keys for running on different machines; their tech support is awesome and I've never waited more than a few hours for an answer to anything.

All of this is icing on the cake but I wouldn't use Live if i didnˇ¦t think it enabled me to actually write music and for the few tasks which are still not implemented or require workarounds I simply use REAPER - it's cheap and small and fast and immensely capable.
