Is there a way to cut an audio clip into, o lets say 1/16th sections, quickly not manually with ctrl-E?
I know other DAWs have a scissor tool is there some equivalent or other quick method?

Ahh yes!! this would be even better if you plan on doing alot of choppy-fun stuff hehe

Although a small tip: in Live 8.3 you must be sure to have the audio in warp mode in order for the slice to midi feature to become available! dunno about the other versions though!           http://soundcloud.com/brentmalik

In other words: right click on the audio file, and select "Slice to new MIDI track". This will allow you to do batch slice operations to your audio file

A window will popuop where you can select how to create the slices (using transients, or a pre-defines note tempo), and it let's you select a rack preset for the automagically slicer.

If you didn't know about this,m go try it out and select different presets, there is so many trippy things it does just out of the box

even better - make you own slice to new midi preset! then you can make your own global controls

Thanks for the responses, But I'm trying to keep it in audio. For some reason I make better sequences that way.

ableton doesnt have the same workflow of cubase and logic working with audio clips, there is no quick link to freeze/flatten, reverse, timestrech, everything is hidden in clip view...

pain in the ass i know thats why im thinking of switching to cubase, much cleaner piano roll too.

Im pretty sure Ableton also has a scissor tool and when enabled you only need to click the lines which divide by 16th. I need to look that up though as I don't recall the hotkey for this           My first track:
