Say ive got audio clip 1 and clip 2.

Im in session view.

I want to assign an infinite rotation knob (or any knob) to the transposition of audio clip 1 in its clip view box.

So i click the MIDI learn button, click the transpose knob, and turn the knob on my Remote. No worries.

Problem is. This assigns that knob to EVERY audio clip's transpose knob in the entire song. Doesn't matter if the audio clip was already there, or if I bring in a new one.

I would like to have knob 1 turning the Transpose for clip 1, and another knob turning the Transpose for clip 2. At the moment the 1 knob auto assigns to them all and only turns the one that I have clicked on with my mouse.

I have read the manual for this section and it seems this is the way it is. If this is the case it is a really shit and annoying thing. Wouldn't surprise me given Ableton only allowed you to assign a knob or key to more than one thing in version 6, which was a stupid and major oversight for the previous versions...

Any help anyone?

I guess it depends on your needs...for me it would be really shit if I needed a knob per clip I want to transpose.
I mostly use the function when DJ'ing and have a knob that controls the pitch of the currently active loop....I'd hate having to use over 30 different knobs to be able to do that.

I select the loops using buttons on my controller, but you might also be able to use BOMES midi translator to select the clip automatically when you turn a certain knob...I'm not sure if it is possible, but it could be worth chekcing out.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

yeh, i see where you're coming from.

cheers for the suggestion on the bomes midi translator. can't say I really like workarounds like that though. might just give it a miss for now.

if the transpose function and its associated attributes were available as a vst as well, this would solve my problem without affecting your workflow.

yes and no.

it doesn't have anywhere near the options or type of transposition (beat, complex, repitch, etc) Plus it would be a pain to set the warp markers where you like, then render that to put in the sampler. Plus once its in the sampler you cant change the warp markers.
