Hello.
I am a total newbie in ableton, but i am preparing a live set and have bought a controller for it.
The problem is that the controller dont have a knob which is not infinite, and i would like to adjust the tempo with a knob, But when its not infinite and it will end i will be stuck at a tempo .
So is there anyway to adjust the range/sensitivity of the midi movement(i dont know exactly what to call it). So even tho its limited i can reach too the final tempo of the set, and it will all be fine.
Hope this is not too messy explained.
Thanks in advance.

not sure how you would achieve this with the method you describe. If you're prepping the set beforehand though, you can draw in automation for the master tempo and make it a nice curve so that it slowly moves up over the course of your set. I did that last week and it worked perfectly - it was either that or constantly be tweaking a knob on my APC and while that did indeed work...i have other things i'd rather be doing.
The way I'd do it, is to start the first track with your master tempo at that track's tempo. Then when you mix in the next track, go and look at your automation for the master tempo (right click - show automation) and put in a little dot at the time when the second track comes in, and move the dot to that tempo.
After you've done your whole set, go back through and add more dots to make the automation line more curvy and less linear so that it increases veryyy slowly.
also - make sure you're using complex or complex pro algorithm if you're doing tempo changes.

I'm not a master of Ableton, but maybe this will help (hope I understood what you need):
Right click on the tempo and choose "Edit midi map".
Now turn a knob on your controller and it will map it.
Pay attention that the browser window had now turned into "Midi mappings" window.
Here you have Channel, Note Control (CC) but also the MIN and MAX parameters. You can adjust that parameters to, example, 100 and 150, and then when your knob is down, it will have the value of 100, and when it's all the way up, it will have the value of 150.
