Well first of all I want to say hello to all the community , I have heard from people that on Ableton you can produce good music , with VST and many things, I usually used Cubase SX 2.0 , but this people told me that AbletonLive is more easy to use than Cubase SX and that it has better sound.
Well I want to ask you all what do you think?
What is better Cubase SX 2.0 ( Cubase SX 3.0 if you have tryied) or Ableton Live 4.0 for the music production , and if someone can tell me the diferences between the programs I will be happy ....

Cubase as u know is a total studio secuencer where u have the freedom to do whatever u want , ableton is a Loop based secuencer the cool thing about ableton is that u can play a lot with live features u can programe loop trigers to your midi controller and launch them wherever u want it it's a cool program and for live issues it can come very handy but , if u want to make music stick up with cubase no doubt and u can use kive to throw there your tracks and some loops and do something different with your track arregment , but use it first man so u can make a opinion ofr your own Happy tweaking |

from my expirience cubase is a better production tool, but that depends on the kind of music you want to produce. cubase has better midi and you can use more tracks and plug-ins. live is more flexible with audio and you can use it on stage.

cubase has much more functions than live in all the creation and production issue, you cant compare those programs at all.
live is a really cool prog to play with and the most important thing: STABLE! |

In my opinion Abelton have a lot of features that Logic and cubase is missing that is extremly usefull for production as well.
What do you guys find indispensible that cubase has and Abelton not?
I havent touched Cubase for years, but compared to Logic the things that Logic can do that abelton cannot is few and I rarely use them.
The MIDI control is amazing in abelton.
The way you can draw controllers is the best I have seen.
And that when you drawn controllers and twist a knob the drawn controllers get merged is an awsome implementation.
The way you can arrange live is very nice when producing as well for my way of working.
And of course the loop handling is neat as well and speeds up production.
If it just sounded a bit better I would dump logic straight away.

I haven't used Live to a great extent, but a very important feature that the major sequencers have is the ability to freeze tracks to save CPU cycles.
For psytrance, with lots of tracks and a lot of automation etc going on Live just got crazy CPU readings and dropped out... then again maybe I should get a faster computer |

@Inner Demon
It's very quick and easy to record down a track and then turn off the plugins. But the freeze does seem like a neat feature of cubase, but hardly indispensible.
Live is a CPU hog for sure. I think it's because it reserves CPU also for plugins that is not being currently working.
Of course thats a necessary implementation if you don't want to have playback interrupted when you happen to activate one track too much.
So a fast machine or a lot of bouncing is needed.
