Thanxks a lot mateīs 
i got just 1 more simple and "stupid" question ...
iīve worked(not mutch  ) with previuos versions of Live (4) , i got 6 now, and i remember i hadnīt problems in controling any parameter with my midi controler knobs..
the thing is that now i canīt control the knobs i want in vanguard synth1 etc...
itīs itīs like i try midi learn=nothing i try the blue midi boton in the right top and nothing.... , and in the mean while while im trying to control the cutoff of the lfo(vanguard), sudently i start to control the waveforms and other stuff that i donīt wont.....itīs sstrange...so....
HELP PLZ  is it any other way to control the parameters with the knobs i want?

melodic marble,
live 6 has a new more flexible approach to assigning midi controllers. however i think it is still somewhat buggy... i have found problems with live assigning multiple parameters to one controller without being asked (!!).
one thing which helps is making sure that the instrument's parameters are open when you start to assign. so click the little arrow which opens up live's view of the VSTi's parameters, then click the MIDI button, then click on any control (either on the VSTi interface or the live parameter view) and move the controller. the file browser should now show the assigned controller and from there you can edit the range etc.

Does anyone know of a way to change the routing of midi information from a USB keyboard to a midi channel in ableton at the touch of a button? Is it possible to set something up? It really kills the flow when I have to find the mouse cursor and then click on that tiny midi symbol on the channel I want to use. All I want to do is tap a key and then move on to another sound with all it's own processing.
Also, though somewhat unrelated, how come when I start a kick loop ableton misses off the first part of the first kick? It's all there on the wav and all good at playing back what I want it too accept on that very first beat.
Any suggestions? |

I think ableton fixed a bug to do with 1st beat midi not playing on start, but audio? anyway what ver u using. latest is 6.0.5

I'm using version 5 which I acquired some time ago because I was originally grabbed by how much more musical it makes the process but being too attached to logic I never really got fully into it. Now however I find it much more inspiring and flexible from a musicians point of view, but it's a real pain when you trigger another scene and that all influential first kick doesnt have the snap that it should. |

thats a good question I've thought of it recently but did not look into it, anyway if its not implemented yet it would be a very welcome new feature to be added in the next update
I think it would be great to be able to change the rooting of any channel via midi controller...... |

It turns out you can assign the midi activation buttons using the key routing buttons on the individual channel faders... kind of obvious really. However now I can do this I'm pissing about way too much and now I have to discipline myself in ableton... in short no spliffs, or you'll keep playing the same loop over and over, bashing a key and twiddling the cutoff nob as you toggle between sounds.
But imagine a band of 3-4 people using ablton like individual members of a band with their own laptops all synced to an external midi clock using these features with some pre-arranged sets... multi-user functions are definately where it's at for the future of ableton and live sequencing in general methinks. |

I hate it when that happens.
As with most host applications, there are some amazing things you can do just by learning a little about the programs strengths, as well as its limitations. I like the fact that it's pretty simple to chain up some devices and get some inspiring results quickly. For me, I can add DSP effects from my EMU card to make up for "thinner" sounds. Anything that ultimately makes it into my project is going to be processed in C4 anyhow. So for me it is an inspirational looping, time stretch, and patch fx tool.

if you set the different midi tracks in ableton to different midi channels you should be able to just swap between them with the touch of a button.
