i´ve realised by pressing CTRL+5 you can unlock the zoom limit when editing in the arrangement and in the midi clips, this way you reach any resolution you want from any zoom position,

take care!           (www) DarkPrisma.com.ar/ ~ FranticNoise.com.ar/ ~ Megalopsy.com.ar/ ~

Tks man! Nice info!

And ... just to put some fire in this topic ...

Agreed with you that it's kind of suprising how not many peope making electronic music here have not turned yet fully into Live for writing music!

It's a fucking damn powerful tool ... at a first glance you could say ... jezzz ... looks very simple for me ... but, don't trust what you see ... give it a shot ...

I've been working with Cubase, Logic Audio and sometimes with Pro Tools for a couple of years and didn't feel confortable enough with Live in the beggining as other DAWs with all those fancy features seemed for me more powerful ... I WAS FUCKING WRONG!

I'm using now version 6 and I'm totally satisfied ... it's definetely the next step of electronic music composition ... Live may doesn't have some complex features for editing audio as other DAWs but it fits perfect for e-music ... you can say ... it's not the tool that makes the artist but what the artist can do with the tool ... well ... that's right ... but how long will take an artist and how easy he can do his work with a simpler and as powerful tool ?

Cheers !

Can't agree more with you Afterstate !!!!
This has got to be the most powerfull tools there is out there for production, it s really simple and there isn't much now a days live can't do.

That said I still mix on Cubase.

I went a bit off topic, sorry guys....

Control 5 I got to try that.

Very cool z1P^! thanks

Ive started using Live after many years with logic. Live is nice but there are just some things that i find a bit amaturish about it.
The hot keys sucks and you cant change them! (right?) A hotkey like Ctrl+B is VERY inconvenient for a features used this much (change the draw mode).
Just the whole way you transform notes, like changing lenght and position is inconvenient and slow.
Also CTRL+shift+t is crap.
The metering on channel is not good enough. I like to know the level in dBfs.
Looking at the mixer there is no visual difference or anything that separates the "Retrurns" (why are they called that anyway?) from the other tracks.
The screen i not very well utilized. Its like it made for 19"+ screens. I only have a 17" wich is fine for Logic or any other program but in live everything just feel crammed.

But other than that its a very cool program but i dont really enjoy working with it because of these things.

Hey AVs,

I Switched to a 20" widescreen, I use to have 2X 19 " inch . The reason is It's more pleasant to work on a screen that allows you to see pretty much everything without having to switch windows all the time. It s clearer and faster in my opinion. So you should really invest on a good screen 17" that's really small. I bought My Samsung 205 bw in London (it s very nice by the way) for £200 (PcWorld).

I guess we all feel a bit unconfortable while we switch to a new Sequencer, but ultimately we get use to the differences and in the case of Live it won t take you much even for the hotkeys.

haha nice topic in here i may say.

ur so right on the monitor. I have to upgrade as well seems like my whole studio is banging yet i still have the same monitor that came with my cpu 17 i believe lol
man i just got smacked with that 1 on the face...
i gotta get a new nice 20 digital flatscreen monitor.

i seemed to have forgotten all bout the monitor.

Well Man i couldn't agree more. I use live as my main sequencer i love the ease and flow especially when u got a controller so u see it actually makes up for some of it;s weakness which in return those other sequencers u stated don't offer..

u diggin. it's awesome for midi for me at least...

even though i still in the end export for my mixing in cubase but thats after all my tracks are layed out in live.

so yeh perhaps if i had a bigger monitor plus a newer cpu with duo processors i would do it all in live...

(AvS) - The metering on channel is not good enough. I like to know the level in dBfs.

well u can always have a vst plugin just for that function if it's a must...

i like the roger nichols one... and waves paz analyzer is good as well...

so theres work arounds and theres more to live but no one knows. thats why theres some many new tips and trick up everywhere!!! LOL

now thats fresh what other sequencer has that vibe going on... live is growing and i truly belive it will be on top soon its really young compare to the others...

so live could possibly take things further than the competition part to the ease of use , its more human i guess atleast thats how it feels.

some of the ones listed in this thread aren't in the manual (i think?).

i'll take a screenshot of the relevant manual pages and post it here if that would help?

i dont know which one of them are in the manual/help, i think there must be pretty much everything but what i like of this is that is a little bit organized by tasks.

anyways would be nice to compliment this with the original ableton documentation. if you can aeon, would be killah
