Is it just me that thinks that the Reverb effects that come with Ableton Live are very average?
I find their delays, overdrives, compressors, everything else is great. Not perfect, but good enough.
But then their reverb...just doesn't measure up.
Is it me? Am I missing something? |

Yes, Ableton reverb is simply not good enough. It makes a mess from your sound. I am much happier person since I use other and better reverbs. Dont use it... |

When using reverb on groups, I use Sonnox Oxford, but I sometimes use Ableton's reverb on individual sounds. Like any fx, ableton's reverb has its own characteristics that some people like and others don't.
I think it has a metallic sound to it, which as I said, can be used advantageously if that's what you want. http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Yeah sweet, glad to find that it isn't just me.
Shame really, the compressors and EQs are kinda cool, but ah well.
I'll check out that one, aciduss, thanks! |

well if you search ableton's forum for some posts by Robert Henke about the reverb you will have a better understanding....
stuff like: its not "true stereo" can be fixed with lives utilities.. plus useing them on busses with live's track delays..
I think alot of live's stuff was built to require (and allow!) a lot of tweaking/stacking/grouping/chaining/automating.. where some plug-ins are def. built to just sound good. |

I believe that none of the effects given with Live are pro effects...though they sometimes do get the job done. If you aren't happy with it Live hosts most VSTi's.
About the reverb specifically, I like it.
"Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth."
Neo: "What truth?"
Spoon Boy: "There is no spoon." |

Yeah I have a fair few other reverb vsts already...
I was just weirded out to be honest.
When I made the switch over from Acid Pro 7 to Ableton Live, I practically stopped using all the VST FX I downloaded over the years, just because the Ableton ones were so good.
