Yo! So Ableton rocks! Its the most user friendly, intuitive, dynamic music making software i have ever seen. Logic is perhaps a more powerful piece of software, but it is so clunky and cumbersome to use. The thought of starting a track in Logic almost makes me shudder. I make psytrance using Ableton which you can listen to at either http://www.myspace.com/anachronid or http://www.panjea.com/anachronid I do finish up the tracks in Logic cuz i find the compression and reverb are superior to Ableton. Also, IMO Logic renders a better final mix product than ableton, all other factors being equal. I have also encountered that when rendering basslines from vsts in ableton the resulting renders sounds different each time i render it. This has forced me to save the vst settings and reopen the vst in Logic and copy the midi file from ableton. This way i get an accurate representation of the bassline in the final Logic render.

yeah, you can now render a whole arrangement as individual tracks. That's a standard DAW feature that was missing from previous versions of Live. |

For future reference, for the last 4 years Ableton has released the new version of Live around early/late July. |

A bit dissapointed with this release. I was hoping they would addres some of the arrangement issues like track grouping/group soloing, the clunky refresh rate when dragging around clips in large files and multi monitor support.
I was also secretly hoping that they would improve on the audio quality as everything that comes straight out of ableton seems a bit harsh to my ears. I cant imagine that improving any time soon though. Would likely need a complete rewrite of the audio engine.
Some interesting other features though that will no doubt be usefull. |
