So,I've decided soon to upgrade my ass to Ableton.Im looking for tutorials from A to Z,I don't really like messing with program without even knowing what to push.

So I'm looking for good organized tutorials to help me familiarize with the program .Anyone knows of such ?

I remember watching something called "ask video" for Cubase, maybe there is something alike for Ableton ?           From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)

+another for Tom's

Theres also tons of videos on Youtube, as well as threads and users on here, so you're only limited by the places you look Anything else is in the manual

My advice; Dont get overwhelmed or discouraged, dont feel tat its too complicated, cuz its not. Its you being too smart for the program, which in my experience is made for dummies           .

Good stuff ,thanks for recommeding. Getting the hang of Ableton slowly .

PS: Ableton has sucky keyboard MIDI mapping (I mean, the computer keyboard, not external controller). Is it possible to change it,or missa screwed?

Look in the upper right hand corner of ableton, there is a key and a midi button

If you want to bind something with a keypress on your keyboard, press key which will tun everything orange - click on the thing you want to bind, hit the keyboard button.

If you have a MIDI controller you hit the MIDI button, select the thing you want the MIDI controller to operate then move the MIDI controllers knob - assuming the MIDI controller is setup properly in the ableton MIDI preferences this should work.

You can't make your own keybinds for ableton commands though. Which is dumb.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

unlike Renoise, Ableton has a decidedly mouse-heavy interface that I find clunky for writing. Renoise is just like all teh old trackers; its got a 3 octave keyboard cut in half; the QWERTY is all you need to write. Live's keys are kinda preview-oriented, I advise HIGHLY a MIDI keyboard, anything but the damn MAudio Oxygen8, unless youre buying a gig-keyboard to thrash playing out.

A USB 10-key could come in handy if your laptop doesnt have one (this does). Its best not to get too intricate in keybindings, you want to be able to activate or deactivate what you want quickly and easily without hunting. I guess Ive done enough data entry work that the 10 key comes naturally, but you get the idea; less buttons= less to mess around with = less to FUCK UP with

Live is great, but for me the workflow is too awkward after years using Renoise for the bulk of work; I just canNOT deal with piano-roll-mouse-clicking-as-creative-output. Renoise has keymappings that are 100% reassignable but are super great already; f9 top of pattern, f10 1/4 way thru,f11 halfway, ctrl f2 transpose up.... anyway...

I advise everyone to try everything they can; you never know what program may offer what features that just 'click' for you.          .
