I've fiddeled around with it for a while, and i think it's a great program, especially for live-performances and sketching/remixing. But i also found it lacks a lot of functionality compared to Cubase SX, so i'll stick with SX for my main sequencing and writing. Maybe i overlooked a lot of hidden stuff ?

It is a great program & not just for lives..I saw Sub6 & cosmic tone using it for their lives last night..
Some swiss artists also recommended it for working on loops & stuff much like using fruity along with your main sequencer..

that's so easy to use, midi, audio, loops, plugs...
don't need much cpu resources, stable and sound good!
just plug and play!
logic and cubase give me head edge
I use in my studio and not for live set
one track made with live5:

Indeed a great program. Not only for live performance, but also for composing.
Imho with Live u have a better "image" of the track... U can divide the parts, like intro, breaks, after climax, etc.... And so much easier to sequence all the samples and midis...
I just have bad moments trying to do some audio tricks like I do in Cubase.
I need to mention that I THINK Ableton Live is not so "cpu friend".... I think I can run more plugins with Cubase.

yes true this is just great, easy, and powerful tool to composing and playing live.
i will tell its better than cubase (for me) much easier. only one thing that should be better is midi seq which is too easy to make some sounds (fat and punch basslines for ex.).
and one more thing, it uses alot of your cpu & ram power...

I would like to see accurate level monitoring and eq meters in the session view. Dont find mixdowns as easy as in cubase for this reason. Midi editing tools are pretty sparse too, but you get used to that quickly. Otherwise, a great intuitive program to use. |

im in the process of changing over from SX to mostly live. there are so many good things about it.
i do agree the mixer section is a bit of a pain yet.
has anyone tried mixing live into cubase as a rewire slave? |
