Hullo Ableton Advocates, Logic Lover here. I'm getting a copy of Ableton very soon for live performances, an am strongly considering ordering an APC40 as a dedicated controller for live sets.
My question to all the APC40 (or similar controllers, Trigger Finger, Launchpad, etc) owners: what do you use for your mappings?
I like the idea of the 8 channels + clip launching, but I'm not so sure about going default on everything else. Anyone got some brilliant midi mapping ideas to suggest? What's a good way to balance in-dept control of individual tracks with on-the-fly, filter-sweep-and-stutter-the-whole-track dj style effects that sound so great live? Should I just leave "dj" style controls to the main mixer?
Curious to hear some strange, wacky ideas here.

I've been using the default map that it comes with. Separating each track(each finished tune) into 5 or 6 channels. Kick, Bass, Perc, Synth, FX - and then giving these channels combined to their own line on the DJ mixer. This way I still have the option to use the 3 band eq & faders on the dj mixer - while still having the control in ableton to re-aarange the stems. Also I route a Kp3 for the main out for FX. - This way has been working pretty well so far - it's just a pain to set up while another dj is still playing their set in a dark room hehe.

What I love about the APC is it's dynamic mapping assignment. Is you simply override it you will loose this capability on the override'd knob. I use the APC as an Ableton controller, so I can change just about everything without using a mouse.
For specific mapping, I use a behringer BCR2000, which works as a effect unit.
There are also some boome's midi translator presets from naitiveKontrol, which changes the mapping of the APC while still continuing dynamic, and believe me it's worth checking out.
