hey guys,

today i changed my ableton version from 32 to 64 bit to excess my full 16bg of ram.
the only problem is that now 50% of my plugins dont work anymore. so i had to use jbridge to get them working.
i dont have time to test at the moment so i would like to know if anyone has some experience with that bridging thing. i mean do i increase performance because i have 16bg ram instead of 4 or do i loose because im using that bridge in between?
any thoughts?
thx & cheers

Ableton tells you that even if you have a 64 bit supported system, you shouldn't bother installing 64-bit Ableton unless you specifically have memory-related crashes and other issues when using 32-bit.

I tend to agree with this. If it isn't broke, don't fix it - personally using a 3rd party middleman to handle plugins (jbridge) is inferior to the DAW accessing the plugins directly. Especially if there isn't an issue on your end that a 64-bit Ableton could correct.

I have a 3rd gen i7, 8 gb of RAM in my production machine and run 32-bit Ableton instead of 64 bit because I need to try really hard to get memory issues even in 32 bit. So there isn't any specific advantage to using 64 bit for me yet, especially since I miss out on using a lot of my self-written custom plugins which are 32 bit.
