ABAKUS - The Jaguar Session
"The first in a series of experimental concept albums hosted by Abakus"

The album is presented as a concept, full story from start to finish as continuous mix - A journey. It is jammed full of music and ideas

*********
Indeed this album is close in a way in its concept to the Gringolocomotion one from Ian Ion, i mean a non-stop concept album mixing different styles. At the exception here , the sound is punchier & more eclectic, psychedelic also. By the way, the musical direction is completely different from his first album 'That Much Closer To The sun" which was fully Dub trademarked as it's going in different electronic directions, maybe with more old school techno (90's)influences i'd say and even we could reach some kinda EBM territories somehow.

Interesting initiative from Modus rec to offer this album as free by simply joining the mailing list of Abakus on his myspace=>

Not into this at all!
It's progressive trance!!!
I know that artists should adapt and evolve musically but this is to big a change for me from the first album. Didn't like the recent album either!
Sorry

exactly my feelings. I really miss the old truly unique style of what was Abakus.
ohh well, i guess u can't tell an artist to go back his own history...

Good Luck with this anyways!           To Infinity And Beyond!

The direction Abakus has taken is also not my cup of tea, but thanks to Modus records for giving away this album for free.

hey hey that rhymes !

Don't think the old Abakus is coming back, so lets just cut some him some slack and listen to this new electro crack.

I kinda like it ... got that porno dancefloor vibe to it. The new album had some great moments too.

PS... this stuff should be moved into the electronica thread now dontuthink?

Maybe it's because it reminds me so strongly of the late 90's Global Underground stuff, but I expected something different of an "experimental" release. I'm going to take Vidam's advice, put it away for a bit, and come back to it with no expectations.
