i would think that whatever the venue, it would most likely be outside of the realm of standard public transportation. my suggestion, to the promoters, if such is the case, maybe a shuttle system could be worked up and put in place... for all the out-of-towners flying in. could rent a van and haul people to/from the venue to a predetermined meet point (ie:end of the line of actual "public" transportation). just a thought.
paradigm, why don't you set up a tribe for this? maybe it would be the best thing, so everyone's views and ideas can be expressed in an open forum outside of isra?

guys, guys, please let's work together. Different crews and different styles of psytrance all need to be represented here or this idea is going to be wasted. Dark, morning, full-on, progressive, tech, all have to be there, as different regions of the country are into slightly different styles of music. It won't be an MoE party, nor will it be a Mindfunk or an Omnitribe party, but everyone should take part in it.
we should set up a yahoo group or a tribe for this...
Pisces1979 - have you ever been to an outdoor party accessible by public transportation??? I don't mean under the bridge in Harlem either.
nobody will have an outdoor festival on the outskirts of Chicago, parties in the Midwest are usually 2-3 hours or more away from Chicago, and no you can't take the subway there, you have to drive.
If the party happens Colorado, it'll be less than 2 hours away from the airport, and of course there will be free bus shuttles going from the airport to the location (we have 2 large buses in the community), nobody is going to make you drive here without a license.
mmkay?

i just want equal representation for the country as a whole, as ive always been one of the staunchest supporters of the crosspolynation concept.
I want to see Moes, Psytribe, Phoenix Family, TDC, TS, Chilluminati, Shiva Shakti, and many others all side by side on this with equal share and say
tribe page is coming in the next hour or so....

cool... nobody will be "in charge" - a committee of regional representatives should be making all decisions.
this brings me back to 2003 or so when we were getting all excited about a US gathering on the old psytrance.us forum...

hey guys, please don't jump the gun here...
there will be equal representation of all psytribes and community in the usa!!!!
Please trust us on this one. From my experience with organizing its important that we extablish an infrastructure and vision first, otherwise trying to organize will be impossible...
Paradigm, I think you are jumping ahead too much you have made so many assumptions and already entered into "freakout mode" about exclusion. i can see why you would be concerned, but please don't make assumptions.
I know we are all excited about this but please, if we are going to do it right we need to be a little patient in the beginning as we define the vision and logistics.
We already have some things in the works in terms of logistics and infrastructure.

not everybody uses tribe either...or even gets on the internet, for that matter. that said, i think that something like googlegroups is the way to go - doesn't have quite as much ad cruft that comes with tribe & yahoogroups, and also allows people to use it like a forum.
a problem that is often encountered when working on events with large groups is that it can be extremely difficult to reach a consensus. if you mix in all of the different crews from around the country that may or may not actually know each other with all the old drama that seems to be stirring around then it becomes even more difficult...and then basing the communication in an electronic textual medium makes it even worse.
right now what we've been talking about, as megan said, are some of the very preliminary things - the infrastructure. the intent is definitely to get as many people involved from across the country as possible...

I am sure that many of us have indeed had this idea at one time or another..we all have a strong desire to circle up and dance together. Lets all take a deep breathe and have faith that yes everyones input will indeed be considered AND valued but honestly there is not any need for panic..... all that is happening right now are very basic preliminary things....
So can we all just erase our programmed past issues and step up to this task with open minds please???

I'm only peeping up coz someone (strangely enough) invited me to the tribe on tribe.net.
Anyway this idea sounds good on paper, but if you really want to make it happen, you're going to have to agree on 'first principles'... if you look at the way teknival (here in Ontario) is done I think you will have a working model to emulate. The key here is to give every crew autonomy to work their own way, independently of any central force or steering committee. Is there any equivalent of crown land in the states? The way things work up here is elegant... a piece of land is selected, and then any sound system is welcome to come and setup wherever. The week-long festival is completely free. They end up with dozens of stages from across the nearby provinces, and down into the states (the NYC crew is always a big hit)... check out northtek.tk for some ideas perhaps.

Just FYI the idea for the A.u.m festival was created simultaneously with the thread here called "team america"... ahhh synchronicities!
So in planning this event, i feel that the only way to do it successfully is to have a small core group arrange the infrastructure. Once that is in place then representatives from crews all around america can be brought in to help where they are most needed. It would be ideal if there was representation from as many crews as possible for each area of need: ie lineup, deco, waste management, etc
But if we have "too many cooks in the kitchen" to begin with, logistically, nothing would ever get done. Its hard enough working on something like this with a familiar crew that you can talk to face to face, let alone a crew made up of an undisclosed amount of people that you have never met, and may not even share the same vision for the festival.
The infrastructure for the event is already underway, as well as a potential location. As soon as we have a stable idea of how best to actively include other crews and regional representatives you all will be asked to participate.
The amount of energy and enthusiasm already generated just in the last few days really shows how needed this event is and makes the potential limitless on its impact!
(and btw, I'm involved with the organization of the festival as MEGAN, not as M.O.E. I'm involved not as someone with a specific music taste in mind, but as someone who really believes in the majik of psychedelic trance and its potential for healing and community)
