'pends on whats cookin
I really enjoy eating about 90 percent raw foods, with sugars and the occasional meat crime when I'm doofing for an entire lunar cycle (or at least thats how long it seemed)....if you're gonna burn, burn clean
I'd say that between a thursday dinner to Possibly a sunday dinner is gonna be 50$ minimum in Cali, and thats eating 5 times in 4 days....dont know bout you, but there is nothing like eating a fresh sweet fruit (my preference is Orange...or apple, whats yours?)...well, something else fresh comes to mind, but that only makes you more hungry
I know I didnt eat much at AUM last year, probly spent about 10$ getting there (lucky me), bought about 50$ off the vendors because I felt kinda bad for them with such a lower (WAY lower than expected),and spent the other 90 on stuff to eat...
I remember last time I was in California, I was amazed at the apparent cost of living... "That'll be 9$ please.." "Bitch, thats one burger!..here's 4, call my agent" (screaching tires)....just kidding, but really, Cali aint a free ride
ONE GOOD POINT: I believe, though am certainly not certain, that last year was privately funded MOSTLY by groups on the west coast.... ALOT of that money was spent on infrastructure... If it is the same this year, and I am serious, I will help in any (sweat, blood, $), so this would effect me too

I think the cities in Cali are expensive, though not any worse than Boston or New York. Heck, $9 burgers are the norm in Denver these days.
when i was there, Norcal didn't strike me as all that bad. Plus there's lots of health food places everywhere and Trader Joe's.

I plan on bringing a few gallons of either panang curry or tom kha gai soup....just sayin, for out of town vendors that have to travel AND pay whatever the local market price for fresh goods when they arrive, could be a factor
This isnt that big of deal, just thought i'd mention
Oregon, though, is MUCH cheaper, and has lots of wide open space, arguably with better trancing weather in the summer

OK, I get it that you have a problem with California, and that's understandable, but these just aren't good reasons to bitch.
Oregon isn't THAT much cheaper, neither is Colorado. Maybe you're used to Arkansas which is maybe the cheapest place to live in the US, but the health food store in Eureka Springs wasn't cheap either. An extra dollar for a burger in Cali isn't gonna kill anyone.
The weather in Colorado and Oregon in the summer can be brutally hot, just as it can be in Cali. In fact, I'll take Cali over Colorado in the summer. But any of them are better than Arkansas in the summer, that was just nasty, I don't know how you guys survive there.

In two years, MN should have a suitable venue scoped out for this with 1000 local attendees.
Please say this is in the woods and not in a desert... |

i never noticed any huge difference in the price of beer between one state and the next.
