I have 2 hard disks in my pc.

What i would like to ask, is if a software (my sequencer) has to be installed on the H.Disk where the windows are placed or it doesnt realy matter...??

Cause a friend of mine told me that it has to be installed on the disk where my windows are for better performance...

Thanx in advance

I have done both and it really didn't matter as much. I would have any of your songs and your samples on a different hard disk than what your windows one is on. My desktop had multiple hard disks and it seemed to be able to access the audiofiles a quicker than if I had them in the same hard drive as Windows.

Many computer techs have told me that it is best to have a dedicated either hard disk or partition just for Windows so that anything you d/l that might cause an issue with windows would be easier to get rid of.

Here we go again....

If you have 2 hard drives, make sure your Sequencer and programs are installed on the Windows drive, and the Samples/.Wav files you use are installled on a separate drive. But remember it must be a physically separate drive, partitioning makes it worse for a variety of reasons.

You'll only notice a difference if you are really maxing out with audio. These days, with VSTs the way they are, most people kill their CPU way before the HD starts to slow down. However, the PC Logic 5.5 "Disk use" graph is notoriously innacurate FYI, and often incorrectly reports disk overload as CPU overload

Here's the extended debate from last summer.

If you have some of your samples spread out over 2 of the drives, it will defeat the purpose. Also, if you are in Cubase, make sure you create your project folder on the second drive so the audio freezes will be on the right drive.

well i disagree with all of u maybe its mather of working , but , before having mac system , in my pc computer , i usually have the windows i one hardisk and only runningwindows and drivers etc , and the second disck only for audio and for the audio software)(logic cubase fl .. whatever) , why ??

because when u are using your local disck C: were your windows is instaled and the rest of your apps , for ex u are running logic on the c: so if u are making music , u need full speed disk running to get everything u need , so if u have logic in the same disk as windows , the disck will be wroking like crazy , gettting the files from windows that he needs , and need to chek the logic directory for u can work with it , and if u have more apps running on the c: .. well my friend .. your local hard disck ,,, is like a crazzy spining out

use the 2 ways and chek if u dont see any difference on it .

one disck only for windows and drivers , and main programs that are only used for ex , times a times , like software to records cds or one game .. and one outher disck to run logic and all your lybs .
