Hello,
my friend ask me to help him,
he do a Karaoke evening and as you know he need a compressor (to control the peak's),
i told him that i think that there is a way touse the cubase & compressor to do that..
now my question is:
is there any way to do this? that the singer will sing into the computer and i will control his voice with compressor and delay etc... in live?
Singer=>Computer (cubase with effect's)=>output (mixer + amplifier + speaker).

what you talking about is real-time processing.
you need external effect unit for that.

You can try this however, and see if it's acceptable: if you use only a compressor you can lower the buffersize of your audiocard to a really low value, so your input- and output-latency are really low (only a few milliseconds). You'll just have use a fast soundcard and hope that a delay of a few milliseconds isn't too annoying. If you can live with the delay you can just strap a compressor (maybe with de-esser) across the input or master-out.

there`s no need for an external unit to do so...even though it would be the best way.
it shouldn`t be a problem doing this with cubase..... except for the latency... which can be adjusted with the buffer size to a reasonable level.
but who uses cubase for kareokee????
          if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

of course there is a way, and without the external unit. create an audio track, set it to monitor appropriate input, turn on monitoring button, reduce buffer size (latency) for faster response, and add effects to the audio track. just make sure that the level does not exceed zero dB without the effects (so you don't get digital distortion before the audio gets converted to digital domain and processed). it is easier to make audio louder than to reduce damage made with digital clipping.           http://myspace.com/voxproject
