Use Cubase's Arpache SX. It fucking makes wonders.

Whack a delay with 1/8D or something in the insert/via a send, have a long feedback tail, then automate the mix. Have this delay on top of a more general static delay.

Be creative with arpegiators - jam with them, feed them multiple midi lines etc.

And the midi merge to loop functionality you can edit the created with the plug-in arpegio on piano roll. BTW for twisted night-time psy melodies it may lead to very nice and musical results.
