imagine this:
a party with no volume.... a party with 1000 people dancing and at the same time being completly quiet...
insanity? perhaps.... unsanity - for sure!
well, think about this, everyone at the party receives some kind of headphones device that is in direct reception of the transmission from the dj booth. the frequency is tuned in and only when u put your headphones on can u hear the music...
once you remove them, its pretty much just a beach, or forest or whatever..
could be cool to be able to talk to someone without yelling, simply by removing your headphones and speaking at a normal conversation level... plus, when u want silence for a while, you get it instantly!
also, those who dont pay for a ticket dont get the headphones and are pretty much having the most boring time at the party...
seeing everyone movin and groovin to silence could be pretty funny, and there is no way the police or anyone can complain! 
one thing is that the base frequencies will not be there... that's a problem but maybe it can be achieved somehow through the ground? i dont know......  think about it.

gosh all these concepts... whats wrong with our normal, loud-with-dj-parties?
the problem with this idea, to me... is the absence of strong powerful soundwaves that are actually altering the physical properties of the environment.
(sound causes changes in air pressure and displaces particles... may sound insignificant... but the chain reaction of a few particles moving, makes more move, and more and more... like a domnio effect, that the changes in air pressure created by a loud banging system outdoors may just change the weather pattern somewhere else in the world in a later time... ever heard of the chaos-theory which is explained by the quote... "a butterfly flapping its wings in japan can effect the weather patterns in NY a few months later" if we use headphones, these changes in airpressure will be contained and the world would... i dunno, be more boring

Sounds like a pretty lame party.
Anyhoo you might be interested to know that the UK's first deaf rave event was held just a couple of months ago. They used a club with glass/high density plastic floors and fired the sounds straight into the floor so that all the deaf party goes could feel the music. There was even a deaf DJ! (somtimes I think some of the DJ's in our scene may as well be deaf). |

surrender why are u comming up with wierd ideas .....  ...... whats wrong with a nice dj booth, good sound system, cdjs, bouncers standing at entrance for tickets/passes, and people not able to speak to each other cos they dont have the time they are busy dancing and going wild  ..... btw i do slient parties at home if my moms around all the time .... hehehe .... ..... peace mate

what about a silence room/area...with those bose speakers that take away all sound by doing some crazy stuff with frequencies and other stuff that i don't understand, basically meaning however loud you scream no one can hear you...actually bose haven't made speakers like this, just the headphones but working on the same principle surely... |

One of the best ideas ever. Really, i love this idea!
The only problem is that you need lots of recievers, headphones.
Or the people have to bring them with them.

fact of the matter is that i enjoy the whole club, speaker makin me deaf, experience i really dont like it when i can hear people mutterin  i like having to S-H-O-U-T with the crowd and occasionally ask "EXCUUSE ME! CAN I HAVE ONE OF YOUR CIGARETTES??"
also having headphones turns a collective event into an individual closed off experience - dont you think?
