Hey Fellas,

One of my good friend from UK, who is doing a PhD in "Asian Electronic Music" is in New Delhi for sometime. He came back to India a couple of weeks ago as part of his expansive research tour. He is currently working on a Documentary on the same which would be coming out soon.

To pump up his efforts and the hardwork that he has put in, he has prepared a small Questionnaire to be filled by fans of Asian Electronic Music or even those who have just heard about it for that matter, and specially those residing in the capital.

From your main influences on your musical tastes to International Travel w.r.t. Music, from MIDIval Punditz to Talvin Singh, from the clubs feat. Electronic Nites in Delhi to the difference they have made, it covers a lot.

We would appreciate if you take some time off your busy schedule to fill up this questionnaire. Please do not be put off by the length of questionnaire; just fill out as much information as you have time to do. If you cannot or do not wish to answer some of the questions, just leave them blank.

The link is as follows:

Thank you again for your help.

The documentary on the Asian Electronic Scene in Delhi has been made. As talked about earlier, the film tries to investigate the Asian Electronic Music subculture in Delhi and has been named: Dilli Breakbeat: Asian Electronic Music in India's capital. Enjoy the screening on Friday, May 20, 2005 @ The British Council followed by a DJ Set by MIDIval PunditZ.

Dilli Breakbeat: Asian Electronic Music in India's capital is a film that not only looks how the Asian electronic music scene has been influenced and continues to be influenced by the UK but also examines the many factors that have given rise to this kind of music in Delhi. The film will conclude with a short discussion on the subject by Dhiraj Murthy, director and producer of the film, Shuddhabrata Sengupta from Sarai and MIDIval PunditZ.

Based in Delhi MIDIval PunditZ were the first Indian electronica band to hit the international scene and are known to have ushered in a new era of possibilities for the sound of 21st century India. They combine high tech electronica with a strong raga influence and their club friendly electronic experimentation is heavily influenced by traditional Indian music.

Passes are available for all of you at the British Council's reception and there also is an online pass system, which can be found at:

www.britishcouncil.org.in

Also, if you have not completed the online questionnaire on Asian electronic music, could you please fill it out at:

http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~dm356/asianelectronic/delhiscene.html

We really do need people to complete it in order for the research to be robust. Please also forward this link to any of your friends who are into Asian electronic music.

Thank you!

Please do come along to the premiere of Dilli Breakbeat and bring all of your friends.

Hope to see all of you there!

Cheers

Thanks to everyone who took some precious time out of their busy schedule for the scintillating Documentary and the participation in the group discussion. Was interesting to see quite a couple of amazing questions being put up.

Thanks to Gaurav and Tapan too for their constant pumping of efforts for all this while in the support of this genre. Needless to say, it was pleasure again to have you guys play a DJ set covering the vast horizons of India's culture and beyond.

Last but not the least, the man of the show - Dhiraj on providing us with close to 30 mnts of pure sensational stuff. Wish ya all the best for your Ph.D bro and we all appreciate the hardwork you put in.

Cheers
