Hey guys, how do i make a certain pattern mute after its done playing in the playlist, but still leaves a certain trace of sound? (due to delay for example), i want it to end at the exact part it ends in the playlist.

use delay or open the piano roll (from FL3 and onwards).

I would have to recommend checking out the Phat.Boy [ http://www.gmedia.com/phatboy/ ]

This little MIDI controller ran me about $250, but it was well worth it.  You can have access to (just about) every nob in the program through a hardware interface.

This really was the single thing that propelled my ability in Fruity Loops.  Doing the events manually with the mouse just was too intensive and not effective enough.

It's great to actually tweek the nobs while the song's playing.  Especially on a TS-404 line when you have the ENV up at about 25% and the RES at about 75% and you move the CUT from 100% to about 50% and back with the LP24 filter.

Of course you have to have the other stuff configured right, but you can really make sick sounds out of that thing.

But having said that, if you plan to do anything remotely serious in Fruity Loops, I'd recommend getting the Phat.Boy.  If you want to mute out a sound, like Kristos said, zero the volume in the event editor.  With the Phat.Boy, just map the volume to one of its controller nobs and when it gets to that point, just turn it all the way down.

Another thing you might want to try is having the sample cut by itself and then make a pattern with just the first slot of that track sample playing a note whos slot volume is set to 0.  This will only work if you have the sample set to "Cut Itself" in the Misc tab.

I hope that I helped a little.
