Veery curious!
Why do a lot of minimal and tech-house artists release their music under their real names? In psytrance - almost noone i guess.
Any ideas?

I think that is an habit of house djs and the minimal and tech-house artists feel more like Erik Morillo, Danny Tenaglia, Claudio Coccoluto or Louie Vega than Cosmosis or Astral Projection or Man Made Man...
Sure is not a coincidence...

Yah, sounding cool + it's more about fame in house than it is in trance (psy) though same shit in dream/pop trance
Monitoring devices, know where you go
Mass media, total control
Digital delight, desire in megabite
Data overflow, virtual suicide
This information, is disinformation
Truth is hidden, knowledge forbidden |

well I can think of a number of reasons why artists in our scene use a pseudynom
but the most obivious to me would eb that an album of weird trippy music sounds better if it is say:
Hallucinogen - "The Lone Deranger"
compared to
Simon Posford - "The Lone Deranger"
where as say
Erik Morillo - "Sexy House" (making it up got no idea about his releases)
compared to
Hallucinogen - "Sexy House"
anyway bad example probably but you get what I mean.
The names suit the music style and a lot of trance acts often have 2 or more people so it is easier to
have a "band name" than two serpeate normal names.
Infected Mushroom sounds more comprehensive than Erez Aizen & Amit Duvdevani

This scene has just as many elitists as any other.
Regardless of the music, Erik Morillo sounds a lot more modest to me than Infected Mushroom. How is that not trying to sound cool?
I would say a lot of them release under their real names because it's trendy, just like people in psytrance will release under names that reference drugs and eastern spirituality.
My last name is Kane..it's simple and pretty easy to remember. The name doesn't matter, you just need something that people can reference your music with.
  You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me? |

what about them? some are cool and others make me laugh
I mean, would Astral Projection be the same eif called by any other name?
Imagin they were called Avi, Lior & Co. - "Another World"
loses the mystical feel x 100%

Artist names are irrelevant. Just an ID. Its good to have a play and come up with something smart.
But a good name ain't gonna make shite music sound better and a bad name ain't gonna make great music sound any less. Astral Projection is a nice name, but it never made their music sound any better, to my ears anyway.
Kox Box...first time I heard that name I was like a box of cocks? Sausage party? wtf?
Then I heard the music and I was totally blown away.
And then there are all the cliches of adding psy into a name and the worst is all the demonsummat, insanemad, terrorwhatchamacallit dark names...fucks sake
