yeah ... i'm interested why mackie is that bad for some of you guys.
i plan to go for the 1642-VLZ3
http://www.mackie.com/products/1642vlz3/index.html
i read many reviews and people seem very happy with.
it's to replace my crappy behringer (if you like additional noise, go for behringer)

routing features of this mackie are good for my needs, and i look for something transparent, not any signal warming/coloring gear.

the reviews you read were probably written by mackie empolyees.
''high-quality equalization''
they must be having a laugh.
for something like that go for a Tascam or yamaha which is a much better option dude.
some tascams are analog but controlled digitally which is good.
but if you've really got your heart set on a mackie get an old 1..........
they don't make them like they used too.

can you give me some references about you, telling me that you aren't a tascam or yamaha dealer ?
where did you learn this, what have you tried... etc.

thanks

tascam is good for sure
but most ppl i know really like the yamaha...
i use the mackei 24/8 and its more than i need...
needs more maintenance but its cool
if you have the money get the yamaha or the tascam or the mackei or the roland or the.....SSL system hehe
i dont work for these companies....
good day

thanks for the replies.
well, this one from yamaha has pretty much the same features than the mackie one i talked about above.

http://www.yamaha-europe.com/yamaha_europe/france/20_proaudio/10_mixers/10_no_category/10_analog_mixers/40_mg_series/45_MG166C/index.html

and it's pretty much cheaper.
so, if you guys tell that yamaha is higher quality and that the price is cheaper .. that's quiet nice.

for my needs i think the mackie would work too .. but this yamaha looks nice..
will check some reviews about.

cheers

well, no i'm not a tascam or yamaha promoter lol, i'm just trying to help.
i learned this from my old man, who happens to be a sound engineer,
so, when it comes to desks he knows what he's on about.
but from my knowledge, i have heard mackies and i'm afraid i can't say i'm impressed,
i have heard both yamaha desks and tascam and from what i've gathered these would be a better option.
the yamaha you have mentioned seems to be a lot nicer,
yamaha's seem to be built a lot better.

or another option, find a TAC Scorpian and don't look back.

thanks,

josh.

What's with all the anti Mackie campaign here recently? Are they the new Behringer now? The last time i checked they made quite good decks.

It's just that after you own a Neve (like everyone here, it seems), Mackie seems like total crap.
