hi guys,
i search a plugin (a free one would be perfect) with which you can define the stereobasis in a certain frequency ranges...
i know i could do it manually (with layering) but i search a plugin for a fast workflow...
do you guys know a few??

This is used to "center" the low frequencies. When you set up a surround sound system, your sub should be as close to the center as possible. This is because lower frequencies are more "felt" than "heard". Not centering them will result in low frequency cancellation, as the sound waves subtract each other out and making the bass sound flat.
Can be a cool effect during a breakdown or at the end of a measure, but in general, keep those low frequencies centered and in mono.
To achieve this (in Ableton), I set up a return track with mostly the kick and bassline going to it, and use Ableton plug-in, in the utilities simply called "mono".

yes,I have tested the other basslane ,nugen etc.And know how they work.
Brainworx is very high and advanced level comparing to the above mentioned imo.
It has a large variety of options ,deeser,11 eq bands, mono and stereo splitting etc.
And it sounds very decent.
Ok the nugen eq's or stereoplacer are also good, but very simple comparing to this Brainworx monster which have all of the other functions and more.
I wish someone would give me that link when I asked about M/S how to..
I asked often. Well anyhows I think no wonder why people later do not help or answer or take someone's question serious etc.
PLUR and tings
..no wonder also that no one buys them.

Got it-big thanks for the info. Quick follow-up question though-what would be an example of a sound that includes the frequencies you'd want in mono, but also has higher frequencies you'd want in stereo? For example, is this sort of plugin used so you can have stereo in the higher frequencies of a bass part?
Thanks,
Pete |

especially the low frequencies ,up to 250 if not to 400 hz.And apart of it all is possible ,if more sounds are in same spectrum you could set some in mono in that range to avoid masking.Basslane goes only to 300hz..

I can't speak for anything other than the Ableton plug-in so I'm not sure if any of the above plug-in's allow that.
I have it set up that way actually, On the kick and bass, the very first audio effect will be the mono, and then compression and eq and whatever else you need. these are then grouped for mixing.
on a seperate return track designated for only the bass and kick, give it about 15-25% of the return knob, and send that pre-effects in that return channel, that way it's before that mono chain.
In the return track, you can drop in a HP filter, (so your not doubling up in the low frequencies which makes this ineffective). and then drop in whatever effects you want to stereoize it. then mix the return track in with the main mix.
btw... what is m/s? That's a new term to me. google keeps bringing up microsoft...
