there are many freebies going around the web, and most of those freebies do the work in a satisfactory fashion in most cases. but the question is, do bought VST plugins, which are supposed to be more "Pro" and more sofisticated etc, are actually better than the freebies, and hence a reason to pay for them? who REALLY needs the proffesional plug-ins? i know that for the time being, im content with what i've got (and the amount of knowledge i have accuierd along the way using those freebies). it would seem to me that Pro VST's are for ppl with far more advanced knowledge in sound and production than myself.

Plug ins that cost money are usually in the first stage of their lives. meaning - sooner or later every plugin is cracked.
Y do plugins cost money? why does Windows cost money?
the plug in is a software into which many hours of work have been put and usually by workers in an established company that need to be payed.
a freware plugin is usualy developed by enthusiests who put much less hours into the development and who's financial demamnds are lower.

usualy a plug in (or VSTi) with an established "father" will be more sophisticated, better sounding, more accurate and less prune to crash or fuck up your computer. though some of the crasiest sounds are done with the silliest of means - for proffesional sound u need proffesional gear / software.

Of course, i came to that realization ages ago, when i used to play (and still do, actually) my guitar. better equipment often meant better sound, but i managed to extract fairly good sound (good enough for recording) from my home equipment, which wasnt too complicated or expensive for that matter.

I think it's about quality and go in the direction you want the sound to go, with not so worked plugins the quality is not always good and also not always the effect is the disierd one.
If you compare a free plugin with a pro one you'll notice the diffrence for sure.
