I wanna a buy a speakers system. I know is super-important it sounds well and all fequencies at the same level. I´ve read the future is in surround system and i don´t know wether it´s possible to make really good mixes or production and mastering works with a 5.1 (or 6.1) or it is necessary a pair of studio monitors (maybe coz 5.1 systems are not made to make music and adds much colour to the sound, specialy bass frequencies)
If someone could help me...
Thanx in advance.

look,
if you have money to buy 6 monitors... then go ahead.

I believe Stereo is going to stay here for long still...
so just buy one pair.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Another problem is that if you end up playing your stuff at some party the party will have to have a surrond system as well, and I've never been to a party which was surrond usually L+R.

Start slow get a pair, and use the other money for other equip, when you feel their is a need for surrond then you should go for it.

It would be wicked if parties had surrond system and people started producing their music on surrond.           "Great things are only possible with outrageous requests." Thea Alexander

A surround sound system would sound very bad in a room that has not been acoustically treated, or if it is not alligned correctly. So a club owner/promoter has a lot of things to think about before they instal such a system.
It would be very impractical for the people that do not dance in the middle of the dancefloor.
Surround sound is not the future imo, it is still very demanding from the consumer's point of view.
The future is better quality stereo format/speakers as it is there where the sound is mostly distorted.

first there should be a surround format at least. The regular wav today is L+R - not 5 channel file.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

There's DVD Audio and SACD they're all 6 channel files.

it's all a question of right mix.

that's all.
If you know how your sound should sound you can make great things on 5.1.
my friend got Altec lansing 5.1 and i must say it sounds very good.

But for begin it's better to go on monitors.

That is what i meant, VCO. A home cinema (without TV and DVD, just amp and speakers) is cheaper than a pair of monitors and there are many musicians are releasing their productions in SACD or DVD-A. Is this the future? I think so...
Do I need a creating room (my room) with a perfect acoustic???? Has an home cinema quality enough to make music????

Oooh, I´m getting crazy!!...

I think if ur not a very experienced producer, doing in surround will just make things far more difficult and confusig for you, and even if you did a master surround production, you wouldn't be able to hear it most parties, as Neutron already said its quite rare to see a partie with a surround system...and there is a reason for that...

I actually have already been in outdoor parties with big surround systems, but VCO is totally right...in the middle of the dance floor it sounds good, but if you're in the sides...you'll just get a confusing sound, and you'll hear for eg the kick two times, one from the speakers next to u, and a bit later from the speakers in the other side, its just really annoying, believe me...

I wouldn't try to over complicate what is already quite complex...go for stereo, that my opinion...
