I was just looking for some new music to buy and came accross this.

http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/com/com2cd043.html

Read the write up. I find this interesting and for me quite original as i have never seen this before i.e. a 2nd sample and loops CD on top of the normal music CD.

anyone know who has done this before?

I dont know this producer or his work but my guess is that the loops and samples will be the same as what he used on the album or do you think different stuff?

I feel that if people see and pick up on this he will sell more albums.

Good luck and from me, good idea

I´ve seen this before, not in trance thou, but Pitchshifter released an album called "www.pitchshifter.com" the last track was named "free samples" and contained alot of samples used on that album (drumloops, voice samples, one hits and so on)           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

I have 4x12" of Move Any Mountain by The Shamen; one of the vinyls contains nothing but the drum sounds, basslines, synth riffs and vocal recordings used in the track...           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Cd kills the Mp3 Industry.. looooll

no,serious, if there will be no change with filesharing..the music bizz will die sooner or later..imo

in my area here in hamburg i do not know much people who actualy buy..

the big distributer cosmophilia is gone, same with freeform and many others..

to actualy import cds is way moe expensive..the only chance is online distributing..

wich is a very good task , cause you can choose whatever track you like from an album...

but its a very good idea to even share some samples and stuff...even presets would be cool for some people/combined with the midi files..or even the whole track as session..blaahhh

the secret is gone of your track but well..everybody has to decide what he will open to otheres, so why not..

maby a good way to keep good music going on..

cheers           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

I wouldn't really want the loops and samples on this. Definitely a clever way to sell it to people who like the CD anyway though..           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

It doesn't affect my choice: if I like the music I'll buy it, otherwise I don't.
When I buy Cds I am looking for musicians not for sound designers.           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

great idea!
but imo its stupid if its not the actual album tracks samples

there was some cd coming out long ago from odd harmonic i think that had this "game" for computer that you can make your own instant remix to one of the songs from the cd , cool as.

Nano Records offered a bonus track
plus a few samples to download, for people who bought the physical disc.
the bonus track always filled up the disc to 80mins.

I think there are many tricks to sell Cd´s, but still the best trick is good music

For me this could be cool bonus things!

Stickers
Tattoos
Key chains
Usbstick
Candy(with long expiring date)
Gemstones
Pocket size pics of naked chicks
Earplugs(perfect for a psy CD)
Ticket to Concert(ticket to release party)
Free code download for bonus track

The list can go on for bonus stuffs, but like Elad says Right promotion is very important...

Also Cover art is very important... Imo

I have this cd, but never used this bonus cd. I dont like to use pre-made samples, just for vocals and this kind of it is stuff with some exeptions. I think music creation is music CREATION, where is all the fun when using samples? Anyway just MY point of view. Maybe 90% of the cd's today come with sticker and some kind of merchandising stuff.

yup. i have this one as well. a few of the songs on this album are still probably some of the better examples of mixing metal (heavy rock?) and electronica i've heard (where it all sounds like a whole, rather than one thrown on top of the other).

never bothered doing anything with those samples though.

back on topic, i think it's a cool idea and a nice little add-on, but i agree with bukboy. i mean, i can't possibly see anyone buying some piece of crap music simply because there are tons of samples included. that'd be really weird if something like this is a deciding factor for someone.
