Bpm college of sound & music is shipping a new course for trance music producers.
Sound & Synthesis
The course contains An in-depth examination of different methods of synthesising sound by computer. Students learn the theory of the many different synthesis techniques which have been used historically and are in current use: sampling, additive synthesis, AM synthesis, FM synthesis, Karplus-Strong, granular synthesis, linear predictive coding, physical modelling on Reaktor5, etc. The focus is on synthesis of musical sounds, but some reference is made to speech sounds also. Students apply this theory through exercises using software such as Reaktor 5, ABsynth, Albino, and also hear the results in the context of pieces of music. Assessment is entirely by coursework exercises.

What happened to the good old way of playing around and experimenting with your equipement (or vsti's) instead of joining these smart flashy "schools" where all is served on a golden tray for you ?

In my opinion these "schools" are a result of a scene where everybody want a piece of the "star-cake" no matter if they got the nessesary talent or not. And furthermore these "Schools" just suck money out of the pockets of people that in many cases lack every fundamental knowledge of music making.

These schools are in my opinion total unessesary. If a person have the talent, passion and will to work hard to be good at making music then who need these schools?

I also believe these so-called schools produce "students" with no individual style. But I could be wrong though.

Maybe a better name for these schools would be "Trance Fame Academy" with "star" guest teachers who's names I wont mention here. So I dont get flamed

I have a better idea. Put these "students" in real Music Schools and teach them where the "C" key is on the Keyboard. Now that would be an improvement of dimensions

You cant really compare that to a school where you learn how to program a synthesizer or tweak a EQ on a mixer.
It's hardly a matter of life and dead to the person behind the synth if he push the wrong button on the synth

I think it s a great idea! I am in school right now for sound engineering. I have found it to be very beneficial to my music. There is so many little tricks that another person can teach through hands on experience. I was looking for a school in Israel to go to, but couldn't find one that taught in English. Is this course in Hebrew? I’m guessing it probably is. But it would be nice to find a school like this in English. I know I should learn Hebrew. I’m learning, but it might take a while.
