OK, here is the last psy mix i did. it starts off more progressive, and ends up with darkness.

this mix is done in one take, with no rehearsal. just me playing tracks.

i think it's different than most psy mixes, hopefully in a good way ;-)

please download and tell me what you think.

thanks

Well, what can i say.. hehe.. your beatmatching is very tight and clean, and your mixes last long enough to get a good feel of both tracks.. I especially like the way you bring in your tracks.. its very suttle.. The mixes cut the tracks very short (that's why there's so many tracks) but i find it interesting none the less.

The ending, well, after the only akward mix (infected's track after Tikal if i remember correctly), things start getting interesting.. lots of different blends of tracks, some start but never really overtake the playing track (refer to the Wizzy noise mix with the guitar of 1200 mics)..

i find it wierd to hear the last three tracks loop..lol. .thats something different..

If you did this with CDJ's, i give you props my friend for some really long and tight mixes..

Correct me if im wrong, but was this done with tracktor or some computer mixing program??           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9

i've been playing vinyl for 5+ years, and only switched to Traktor and a laptop this past year. what i do is run two stereo outs from my soundcard into the hardware mixer at home/the venue, as i can't stand the software mixer in Traktor. then i just cue up, beatmatch and go.

i don't use any sync features FYI. i've been mixing long enough that beatmatching isn't a big deal. plus, using the sync for matching takes some of the excitement out of mixing, which makes the "energy" of your mixing suffer. i plan to use the sync features eventually, hopefully to combine live stuff like guitar riffs with trance. Beat Grids allow you to lock mixes in, but even then you have to manually set them up and be able to make adjustments in the mix. Traktor does not make mixing easier if you use it manually. the pitch range is low enough in resolution that you never really lock mixes together like on a 1200. so you still get the slightly "loose" feeling of live mixing, good or bad.

thanks for the comments- i'm going to try to do another mix asap.

i have never set it up, but i'm pretty sure you need a soundcard like the M-Audio Firewire Audiophile. that's what i use, and i think (if you're using the software mixer) you can plug your headphones into the jack on the soundcard, and run another output to the amp. then you can just assign either deck to the headphones for cueing up, and the sound the amp receives will be determined by the crossfader position.
