TaLaMaSkA: practise makes champion. nobody is pro in the beginning?
i believe ppl are trying their best.. or atleast they are trying to learn how to achieve better sound and so on...

besides i think that eq is never perfect there is always something you'd like to fix or change...

Let me see your comments now           Interviewer: "So Frank, you have long hair. Does that make you a woman?"
Frank Zappa: "You have a wooden leg. Does that make you a table?"

Au contraire (hope my spelling isn't way off...)

I don't know what to think of this post - is it a gag? Anywho - Before I started making electronic music, I ONLY knew about scales, chord progressions and functional harmonics, having played the violin for 8 years... Still, my music sounded outright awfull!

There are many ways to get into trance-production, and every single entry point breeds a slightly different style, with focus on what the particular artist likes. Listen to a track like "Trommelmaschine" by Der Dritte Raum... No chord progressions and intricate melodies there - it just works. So I'll have to respectfully disagree

Sure. You know, it's not the real Talamasca who started this thread. Cedric has an artist status and his user name is entirely in lower case.

Maybe, he just discovered that his spelling was wrong all along           Interviewer: "So Frank, you have long hair. Does that make you a woman?"
Frank Zappa: "You have a wooden leg. Does that make you a table?"

I have to agree with everyone. Some of us are making music just because it is fun. So what if it doesn't sound as good as the proffessionals? We had fun doing it and that's the whole point. For me, even if there is only one person that has enjoyed my music, I will be happy.

nice one A.
i made my first tune with magix music maker maybe 5 years ago...do you really believe i would have come to cubase and vst without all the annoying feedback i got from pissed off listeners that took their time to listen to my "music"? i'm not that good yet, but i'm seriously working and every review is to improve myself. i wonder how many trance "engineers" learned about chords....i guess its mostly based on doing & watching/hearing.
i'm not offended, but we just are not here to judge how sophisticated people are.

btw: music just following boring chord progression rules etc. is really boring and empty
