I thought that some of you might enjoy some of this downtempo stuff I've written recently - stuff I'm working on for a live set.

Anyhow, I hope you do, if you have any thoughts on it, I'm always open to feedback and constructive criticism and encouragement, so either leave a comment here or on the tune itself

The mix is available for download off the widget too, because I am nice

listened just the first part for now i dig it , sound nice.

i enjoy the production like this but if you wanna ear constructive critism ,to me the negative point is that it feel kind off conjested, clostrophobic ,not enought open sounding .
the leads and atmoshpere sounds kinda flat, it could breath more . i feel you may have done this on purpose to give a modern sound but imo it make it harder to get immerged into the mix and get more 'sensations.' it sound kind of you limited everyhting, hear /see tresholds on sounds and nothing go over it when listening.it make it tiring and would probably get listeners bored faster.
could be more open on the side too at some points but if you make it for live don t really matter..

except that i like what i heard ! nice one

i m not yet familiar with my room and monitor placement so take this with a grain of salt as i didn t compare to any reference..just my first impressions

Cool - thanks for listening PoM.

I'll be sure to bear that in mind, when I mix things down and get to a more final point in the live set.

Glad you enjoyed the music, and thanks for taking the time to listen properly

Don't worry about knocking things - I'm not overprotective, and try to be quite objective about what I do.

Yeah, of the three, the first is probably the mix I'm least happy with, it's just a little boxy.

The other two I'm a lot happier with.           .

that is some top notch shit right there.
sound design, flow, mix is top notch, like especially the detail work with the percussion.
play me the second and third song for guessing and i would have thought its aes dana or huva network.
the first is nice but a bit more "generic" and could use some depth as pom suggested, maybe a deeper more spacious verb for some leads? still a great track, do not get me wrong.

make an album, send to ultimae, win.           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

well that is good news!

thanks for listening Klippel - yes, general concensus seems to be that the first track isn't quite at the level of the last two - and that completely mirrors the writing experience - I just had less things I found inspiring to say with it

Not working on an album yet though - heavy commitment like that tends to freak out my writing process, and I have a tendency towards trying to develop pretentious album 'concepts'.

For now, I just to to have some fun with everything and play
my music at a few parties to cool people. Little steps!

Thanks for taking the time to listen and provide proper feedback - much appreciated           .

glad you liked it!

on the subject of ep releases - I'm really personally not a great fan.

My thinking is thusly - loads of people release eps, at a professional standard and rightly promote them and rightly hope they will get noticed by people who want to listen, and rightly actively pursue that.

Releasing against that produces an inevitable 'high background noise', for me or for anyone else. A lot of effort for not a huge result!

I'm happy do things in other ways which are odder and I hope will be more productive - like getting a live set together for the summer season. I think that will mean more to more people, including me!

i don t really listen much chill music , but i think it would benefit to be mixed more like classical music or maybe some movie music, , to really get the listener hooked on th sounds.

at a friend i was lisetning some hans zimmer music, he have very good hifi it was really a great experience that ended almost painfully when switching to some full on. i think you would play more on this it could make your music really amazing .
it it was possible to stick to -12/14 rms and mix to use the wide range it could be even more a deep experience

Liking your ears PoM.

I'm a classical musician really. That is where I 'learnt' to compose. Really, my largest musical interest is in choral and orchestral music, as these are the things I 'know' from when I was was a much more performance based musician.

It's kind of difficult to get these to perform your stuff though!

I do go with sampled orchestras occasionally, but it is a lot of work to get convincing legato sounds, IME.

I do completely agree however, a lot of my chord progressions et all would benefit from being mixed more 'naturally' as classical music. They move around a lot, and static EQ can struggle as I change key. It becomes really important to tweak every sound right (by which I mean perfect) on the synth.
