Hey guys, i'm looking to buy a sampler to use live. I play drums in an indie/electro band and want to trigger up my kit to get some real phat electro kick drum/snare sounds out of it. Mainly it will be for drum noises (i plan to trigger my acoustic kit, then have the trigger signal convert into midi and into the sampler), but I also want to be able to play effects/atmospheric/voice samples and stuff off it between songs.

So what's a good choice for a sampler that has a decent array of effects etc + good midi support and of course good quality output so it will send nice over a big PA.

i should have specified, i don't have a laptop so software is out of the question.

also, will latency be an issue? obviously as i'm using it for live drumming even the slightest delay between hitting the drum and having the sound come out of the sampler would be really annoying. will there still be latency issues with hardware?

generally no.....MIDI is fine for this so hardware will be great and more stable of course.

Oh one thing i was wondering about these samplers, ie the sp 555, can you adjust the volume/levels of each of the samples whilst playing it live? Since i'll be having drum noises coming out of them I want to make sure they're all mixed properly and in balance to each other so can i do that on the fly/live or do all the levels have to be sorted out before hand? I'm assuming the sampler only has one line out?
