I've been trying to create my own psytrance for some time now and getting on with it quite well. But still there is so much i need to learn to be able to create the sounds i want. I was wondering if any one would recomend any good books on synthesis/MIDI/VST/Trance Tips & tricks, prefrably related to Cubase. I do remember some time ago that someone had posted a message, recomending a book that had been writen by a Psytrance artist but i can't find it anymore. Cheers! |

hi, Nybras
i suggest you "reverse-engineer" any patch you like. this way you learn alot about synthesis. for any patch, turn off effects if used, bypass the filters, listen to each oscillator on its own. look what is modulated and how. i hope you got the idea.
cheers

Hi there Nybras!
The best book (and the cheapest too) is a site called IsraTrance... You can find right here....
Most of what you want to know is written in this forum, or if you really want to read an artists ideas and knowledge, try to pm an artist here... Like that its more like an interactive book.. You can even make your own book with the info here...... Just go copy-Pasting to a .txt all the info you think is good (plus the link to the topic you found it from and the poster nick to pm.....)
But if you find the book and really think its worth it, give it a review here..

Cheers for your replies guys.
To be honest guys the real problem i'm having is creating nice leads and i havnt found anything in the leads thread thats really helped me.
'Knocz' the reason i ask for books is because i dont allways understand sometime what people are trying to say, not detailed enough, or doesn't apply to the software or VST i use for example.
thanks again guys! |

check the book HOW TO MAKE A NOISE
Its very nice to read...and its gonna help u a lot on the design of sounds like leads and stuffs like that
its gonna teach u everything... from oscilators, to envelopes to filters even Harmonics.... and it works in a interactive way. U can study the book using the sinths that the book are usin... like Vanguard, Zeta, Wusikstation, Rhino and there it goes.
the book helped me a lot on the learning of tweakin sinths. |
