Hello all!
Firstly sorry a bad english...my english is not good but i will try to talk about my high school final "job"...i don´t know the name of this step of high school..but is the work to you show all you enjoy in the school...is a year of work...
my course is "Design of Digital interfaces"
and my job consist finnaly in make a fisichal controller of a Refx Vanguard VSTi...but with a concept "The realization of a simulated"...
taking up a series of discussion as Digital vs. Analog...a resistance of a musical classe with these devices...and other more...
my objective is show the great work that these devices as vanguard can make...and take up how a fisichal controller can get a more dynamic and a serie of benefits as low cost..putting many instruments as controllers and routing that to a "brain" in case a notebook...
I´m starting this discussions and i need comprove to my teachers in the next week how many people will wanna get a fisichal controller of your prefered Virtual Device...
If you can describe what this represent for you I will use these quotes to help me to convince my teachers..just with this i will go to next and last semester step...and complete my graduation...i will be so thankful
Thanks for now...
All th best!

Are you actually expected to design and make a Controller for Vanguard? Seems like a very complicated project for high school!

yes!
Is not so difficult man...the electronic part is very simple..is just connect the knobs on the converter board...this boar convert the eletronic signal into a midi signal...and then you use your midi interface...
a friend that work with custon bikes will make the alluminium board...the problem is the LCDs...vanguard not have a output of yours proprieties... in this case i will make this internal on the controler on the fixed parts (osc wave type, arp, gate, delay)...probably on final of course the controller be semi-functional...but with the time i will make 100% clone of vanguard vst...

What are you using for CV - MIDI? Are you programming your own Microcontroller chip etc ??

yap im intrested as hell
please if big audio company read it and have the resource to make this kind of thing perfectly and in ok price please do! (has to be less then 400$ i guess , otherwise will get real synth)
btw not must have LCD why not use the usual digital screen (like all midi controllers)

Elad...
the cost of this product is ridiculous in a industrial scale...
I prefer the lcd..as vanguard...specially in this job I need a concept to guide me...and convince the teachers..this discussion is about the dynamic get when you have the parameters on your hands, and good mecanic interface...a begginer for example can easly not know what is a fucking wave type...but when there see on a side of a "OSC" knob and change it, there he will listen what is a diference between the wave types...that is part of discussion when the MOOG come with your synthesizers and populated the music with noised and distorted tones and more free compositions...with the MIDI, Controllers and Digital devices, this concept go down, and the all-in-one concept guide the evolution of the devices..having all in a computer monitor and a controller to do all....
i can talk to much about this hahahaha i´m now writing my text..but is in portuguese...and will take some time of yours!
but the point is..when you see all the parameters instantly and touch it dynamicaly you can do more then you have a generic-interface with a lot of programs.
making just one, on my case..the cost is arround that 400$ including all...
the only problem is the bank/preset manager...via midi you can up or down presets..but not load a bank...and you not have on the lcd the name of bank/preset..
i´m studing a solution for this...
when the work is walking i will sending posts |

well it still only CONTROLLER tho
i think its great if the LCD of vanguard will show me what happens
and the usual midi keys screen can write OSC , HP , LP , CUT.
about costs i dont understand what u meen rediculus , probably the parts are not so expensive if u have factory but anyhow i was talking from the other side as heavy consumer of studio gear.. this is the tag i would put on it specialy if its cheap knobs like M-Audio , but would pay more for good knobs like Nord (silicon something i think it was the explain)
actualy i think it would be cool to have 3-4 dedicated controllers for your favorite synth
(btw aint touch screen pritty much covers all options?)
waiting for update , keep up the good work!

I know the touchscreen devices...
but i want make something different..i don´t operate a touch screen controller, but certally they don´t have a tactile feedback...I think this make a big difference when you playing live...

i dont want to rain on ur parade ,, but i think this goes against the main atraacttion for me about soft synths, which is independence from any dedicated hardware,, and that can be controlled with any midi controller as well as any other virtua instrument u want with the same device... the neat thing bout vst studio is only one midi device, cpu , interface, monitor,,
its the beauty of the zen setup
