hi,
i know its silly question but wonder which works better to cut the frequencies from a sound, f.e. to cut high from bass which meterial should be used eq, parametricEq or philter? and is it changes when the cuttin freq changes? or is it changes by source (wave or vsti)? |

I'd say they work the same.
If you using a HP or LP filter it simply stops everything over or under a certain range.
With an EQ you do the same but have finer control over the shape of the cut.
And they both work by cutting the output, which is why where the cut is in the FX chain is important. |

cuts should be made with surgical precision according to parametric form of equalization.
generally when you want to isolate certain passages of a sample, you cut. During later stages of mixing, you might wanna boost certain areas on the master output if required. Refer to recommended equalization frequency chart.
