Its not the forum that I take seriouusly, Its insecure people degrading a sincere opinion because they have nothing better to do. Its an extension of all other ignorance I've seen in life in and out of the scene. All I was trying to do was learn more about the other genres because I havn't had much luck finding quality elsewhere. I stated a couple of times that I'm sure there is quality besides dark-psy but the meatheadz still want to target my opinion. Its assumed that I'm saying dark-psy is the only good type of music but if you stopped picking your nose for a second and actually read what I post then most of what people counter with is already explained. Just cause everyone else is apathetic in this forum does'nt mean I have to be.
As far as being offended and conradicting myself, Its one thing to disagree with an opinion and to make an attempt to offer an alternative, but don't expect me to laugh when I'm mocked because of a strong idea.
To many milkshakes turn you into a meathead.

Its amazing that people hav'nt noticed the 4 x's I've given credit to other genres of music because its more important to make a righteous statement about being equal. In relative standards every type is equal but when it comes to facts Dark-Psy is the most progressive and effective for the trancendance experiance and until someone offers a real alternative to me thats what I believe. Nobody has actually come up with any substantial counter to that statement its all just mindless insecure chatter.

Give me an artist(s) that proves my statement wrong, I aint scared. Older prog, full on is all I know. Of course older goa trance like Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, Cosma GMS etc were great but it seems that dimension of sound went towards the commercial festivals and became a bit like rave trance. Yaaaaawn. I miss old Infected Mushroom and I love melodic trance but it became played out when people are dependant on cheesy formulas to induce the same pseudo-happy response every time. Thats whats great about knight psy because it tends to push boundries and make people think a little more than feeling happy because you ate some eeeeeeeeee, or mayby we can bring booz to an event, great idea. What an excellent way to facilitate higher conciousness.

I apologize for not putting this in my last post but the reason that dark-psy is more progressive and effective in the trancendance experiance is because it remains psychedelic. Thats what type of music we're talking about right?, Psychedelic Trance?

Audioassassin, Ive found a lot of non-dark stuff thats exploring new territory, and is very psychedelic. For example, Kino Oko, Tea Chairs, Behind Blue Eyes, Sensient, Krumelur... Well I can go on... (And this is IMO as well, you may not agree)

As for dark, I can dig it. Some of that stuff thats out there just seems like thrash-core-horror trance or something. Not really the psychedelic trance that I love. But I really don't think of most of that kind of stuff as 'dark' (forget the old argument, this is IMO), to me its just night psychedelic.

Good response man, thank you. I've seen some of your mixes posted at triplag and I will check out some of those artists you named, right on. I've been debating in other forums about the opposite end of the spectrum which is the extreme thrash horror-psy you refered to and I dislike that as much as the cheese. I'd like to hear more melodic experimentation in darker styles rather than relying on crunchy acid all the time. Thank you for your words, Namaste

I personally believe that there's a big difference between psychedelic and chaotic. There's a lot of night time stuff out that seems more chaotic than trippy. Not to say it doesn't have it's place, but when I think of music that I find psychedelic a track title comes to mind. Clarity in Deep Fog. You can be swimming in sounds, but each one is as clear as a water droplet on a leaf. Sometimes producers spend so much time trying to get the "clean" sound, that it becomes sterile. I also feel that the format that melodic music is presented in can really detract from the psychedelic aspect of some music. Melodies can be psychedelic, but it really depends on the sound. I tend to enjoy making strange sounds that when combined with other sounds create a sort of melody that isn't quite expected. It might not be considered a melody because it's not one sound playing some sort of arpeggiated sequence in the phrygian scale, but it is a collection of tones that can be considered in scale to each other sometimes. Hell, if you process the sound correctly and enough, you could probably get a chainsaw to become a melody.

I think that we as music creators get too comfortable in what's considered acceptable, and as dancers we are too indiscriminate of music. I stopped dancing as much as I used to when I started djing, and my level of acceptance of most music declined when I started making my own. On one hand, that's fine for me, but on the other it's closed my mind to possibilities that escape my grasp of acceptance.
It's very rare to find music that is truly timeless and that will be appreciated by all. Back during the baroque period, that type of music flooded europe and it was on everyone's lips. 250 years later, unless you're a classically trained musician you don't even know about it. In the end, as long as what I have made was able to make someone smile, dance, or think, the rest is moot and will be forgotten long after I'm gone.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Things are preaty cool when Mubali stops by. Thanx man, that made a lot of sense and I agree 100%. I've always dug your soundz and I continue to use Cats and Play in mixes to this day. Not that its old but there is always so much new material to pick from. I'm glad that there are still producers with a heavy sound that don't need to be scary or demonic to create it.

Modulation! Modulation! Modulation! Good stuff, hope to see you in Conn. on the 23rd

next time try reading the posts rather than assuming that the thread is of the same tone. Instead why dont you read what an established artist has to say on the topic.

Duuhgh, milkshakes tee heh hee I can't stop laughing its so funny.

Actually, Chuck has a point there... I mentioned this in a private message, but it's pretty relevant to what's been mentioned.

On the internet, people can act like a total jackass and it not be really reflective of who they are up close and personal. There's been people I've encountered that online I've wanted to deck, but in person they're nowhere near the troll that they make themselves out to be.
This place allows people to live out their fantasies and act in a way that goes against the way they they might have been raised to act. I've even gone off on a couple of tirades on here. On that same note, where I might not be as much as an asshole in person as I was in the forum for that particular thread, I still stand by what I said and would be more than happy to do so in person. See, there's really nothing in the rules of the internet that says you have to be nice to people. Now get along kids before I have to whip it out and beat ya with it.

I already know this next statement is gonna piss somebody off but it has to be said, please.... off my nuts...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Chuck, Sorry for generalizing like you said not to, I assumed Facehead, Chuck was in the same catagory as people who like to be rude. Reveiwing the previous posts I realized he wasn't part of the shit storm. Sorry Chuck my fault, public apology, Im Brendan. I was the one who should have read the posts, duh.
At the same time there should be some sort of tact used in dealing with people on any level, just cause you don't have to face the music doesn't make it cool to be a milkshake eeegghmm.. I mean meathead

agreed, but just because it's not cool doesn't stop it from happening. The important thing is to let it roll off you like an candy kid in a warehouse party.
