Cubase
Logic
Sonar
Reason
Nuendo
Fruityloops
Acid
Orion

the possibilities are endless, to the point where asking such a vague question is really extremely pointless. Search this forum and the internet in general to get a feel for which prog would best suit you, or better yet, try out "demos" of each program and see which you prefer.

FWIW, I'd personally recommend cubase sx and a stack of plugins from Native Instruments, Waves, GRM, Ohmforce and TC.           http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/

Well, i'm sure there are countless threads about this subject, but nonetheless i'll try and explain your options.

First off, you've gotta learn your software. It aint enough just waking up one morning and say, "hey, i'm gonna get me some software and make me some muzak!".

Anway, the most basic software setup most include a "workshop" [as i like to refer to it], and by that i mean a program in which you arrange, edit, equalize and basically produce your music.
Two such programs which are recommended are:

- Cubase SX
- Logic Audio Platinum

Personally, i believe Logic is a far more powerful & diverse tool than Cubase, but takes longer to figure out. I might consider reccomending Cubase to start out, as it is slightly easier to figure out, but you might find it hard to later switch to logic. Anyway, the choice is your's, both are good applications & should answer most of your production needs.

Now that you have chosen your production "workshop", you have to attain some software for creating sounds. You ofcourse need software which is compatible with your "workshop" [either cubase or logic]. Here are some reccomended programs:

--=Logic Audio=--

- ES1
- ES2
- ES-P
- Kick Me [you need to work with creamware sound card for this]

--=Cubase=--

- Absynth
- Reason
- FM7 [don't like the fm7 sound, but it's good for practice]
- Tao pro
- tritium
- waldorf attack
- Virsyn Cube

Apart from that, you will need plug-ins for equalizing, mastering & twisting you sounds. Various effect programs are available. Best try the Waves bundle, which presents you with an adequet selection of plug-ins.

Now i would say that your sowftware setup is complete. Apart from that, if you plan on working seriously & not just playing around, than a good sound card & a pair of monitors are a must, but there's no need to jump so far at such an early stage. Arrange you software setup, sit on your ass and practice untill you know what your doin' [don't expect to be an expert right away, these things can take ages]. But patience is the key, and practice makes perfect... good luck

trance is art ...

it is interesting to hear that u also wanna make some music ...

but first pls tell us that have u learnt any find of music or instrument ???

coz if u havent then u will find urself lost a couple of times .....

and next moving on to the software i suggest is that u should start of with fl studio and work on it until u know the software in n out ...

coz it is a very basic n easy program and gives u an introduction sort of thing as to what other programs are going to offer !!

after uve doine with fl studio , isuggest u move on to reason and cubase sx , as nothin can beat them ..

logic is also nice , but is a little hard to configure i guess ..

i hope i helped

logic is the producers dream

What would I do without it? ! Don't even want to imagine my world without it!ahhhh!

I must say, I know of several cases of people that went from cubase to logic, but I don't know any case where a logic user switched to cubase...

the name says it all, its just logic and i love it!

But I agree with Global Trance Network, frutiloops is a nice program to learn the basics of how all this computer music business works.

One tip:
If you are beginning now, you must know that trance music is very hard to make it sound really good. Is a complex style. BUT try try and try. If you don´t get expected results try making other kind of downtempo music like trip hop, chill out or some stuff like that. Is easier to get "good production" sound by this way and meanwhile you are learning many things without much effort that will help you.

Good luck!!! I wish you the best...
