What started with me saying to myself 'hey, I bet it would be cool to grab the intro to ghost in the shell and fuck with it' has somehow transmogrified itself into some sort of strange tangled mess of sounds. I had fun making it so if you have fun listening then hey that's more fun and joy in the world than there was before, and isn't that what it's all about?
The vast majority of FX work is done with U-he's Uhbik suite and its fucking glorious, I love it to pieces.
Ghetto mastered by me in my room-o-reflections with the aid of Izotope Ozone 4.
As always, impressions and/or advice of any kind is vastly appreciated - particularly about the layered dubby bass

Good stuff.
Interesting sound. Nice progression. Bass holding different parts of the track together in a story. Subtle mood changes. Cool indeed.
Somehow I imagined a baby dinosaur (a cartoon maybe) going for a walk through a few different places.
What is the folk song that is in the background in the first couple minutes?

That's from Ghost in The Shell! You should watch it. Great movie. That, the noise in your brain sample and the garbled conversation + airplane noise at the end of the track are sampled from that movie

I like the kick and cymbals. solid and crisp
that bass sounds best between 3.25 and 4.10.
good stuff
some leads can draw less attention to itself. its subjective i guess

thanks folks, input is well noted - yeah my bass patches still need more OOMPH! and my leads....my programming (both synth and midi) needs lots of work yes.
daark, you mentioned the automation....like you think the automation of some of the leads (its most likely FX on send that im twiddling and sending back overtop the original audio that you're hearing) is too intense? IDK, I was really happy with how the final lead FX automation turned out, super whacky!

That's true, there were moments in the middle of the track, when a lead (or even two at once) was sticking out of the mix too much (and was not of a particularly interesting character too). I am sure it’s something you can correct in your sleep by now.
About the bass - I actually liked the subtlety of it. It is there; it is a continuous thread, connecting different parts of the track (places the baby dynosaur visited ) together, but it's not overly loud and nauseating, like in many dubstep tracks.
It's fine if an in-your-face instrument is a signature of the genre: like overdriven guitar in metal or exaggerated helium kick in Nitzhonot or FM tzwick-tzwack in darkpsy. But your track is original - it doesn't sound like you were trying to conform to any style standard. There is no need for exaggerated signatures here then - so, your subtle bass is actually a strength, not a weakness.
Just IMHO, of course.

Check into lowering some db around 3.5 to 4.5khz on the leads to give that belching bass a little edge there.
This may also help to take a little the edge of the leads.
if its desirable

Woooo!!
Just got the track back from being mastered by Sturdy Pete on the psymusic.co.uk forums and it sounds fucking awesome! Well, at least I think it does
check it out for yourself:
I have also decided that now is a good a time as ever to make the change over to my artist name...at least on soundcloud. I have decided on Tasp. If you get the reference then bully for you, you'll probably get a kick out of it but if not then its a mastery but short and easy to spell If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
