kaz,

Before you dig yourself too deep, if you want to pwn someone, you have to start with the arguments and then come with the deep sarcasm. Oh, and you have to be right too. No points on either account for you.

@ s-cube :
is it real that bma6 are now more expensive ?!?!?!
i know they were about 1750 euro (2600 chf).

also: is it real that you have some background noise like a "shshsssshs" that you can notice during silence?

bye

the mk1 cost as much as before as for the bm6 mk2 theys sell them for a litlle more , but the mk2 factory price is well below the one of the mk1.

@ kaz :
you make a list of songs and then say which speker express best each of them.

i think instead that the quality of a studio speakers doesn't depend on how good they express a song (maybe also but that's not the meaning of it).
imho a studio speaker is good when the song you made with them sounds the most similar possible on any other sound system , monster party sound system or cheap home hifi.

cause that's what you want: to make a song and that this song sounds good (or sounds like it sounded in your studio) somewhere else then your studio, so i would say the quality of studio monitor depends on the solidity (universality) of the eqing that you can get with them.

in closing: you might maybe enjoy the x song more with the A monitors but the eqing you get will be more robust (resistant to parameter change) with B monitors even if the x song sounds not that good.

can anyone correct me if i'am wrong, coz to me that's the meaniing of paying so much a couple of speakers

bye $

Yup they're more expensive now in some shops, probably coz they're out of production..(I'm thinking of selling mine for 2000CHF if anyone's interested)

You can see the price difference here:
http://houseofsound.ch/webshop/ebp.php?f=shop,search,0,0,0,0,de,0,0,0,0,0
BM6A - CHF 1279
BM6A MKII - CHF 929

Which makes a total difference of 700 francs for a pair!

Nope i have no problem with background hiss, that is usually due to other issues such as ground loops etc, not the monitors themselves..

just got my bm6's and i asked the oficial importer to israel of dynaudio about the bm6mk2
and he told me it was a sad joke

its a development of TC electronics for portable radio\tv station ect..ect.. uses the elements of the old bm6 with smaller box, and less strong amps

so basicly its alrady cant be better than the orignals bm6.

so for the marketing they named it BM6 MK2 cuz of the big succes of the original bm siries..

so basicly its a marketing trick.

stay away.

Hi guys,

Fun to see where this thread is going to, even though it was named "8030 vs BM5" ... and not "What is your favorite monitor..". Should I hand you all in for offtopic posts now, or what ?

I got the 8030 now after lots of listening to both , the BM5a and the 8030. The later one seemed to fit my hearing better, so I decided to go with them and I am satisfied.

The bass of these little buggers is just too awesome

I hate to be slightly off topic, but I certainly have an amateur ear for things, and have always wondered exactly what people were referring to when they described a speaker as more 'accurate'? Is that just another way of saying less distortion?

more accurate means that what u hear is what u get and that the same is translated in all speakers thats intended to be played!

example is that if ur bass in ur speakers sounds to loud and bassy but in all the other speakers/monitors the bass sounds fine than ur speakers tend to overpower certain freqs that means that they are not very accurate!

Ok, but it's still a matter of opinion which speakers you trust.
Maybe all those other speakers lack some bass.
Who's to know!??

I'd like to resurrect this topic, because I am looking to buy one of these monitors. I've had my mind set on the bm5's for quite a while now, but I just found a used pair of Genelec 8030a for 800-850$ (still have to bargain), so I think I am just going to go for these, just because it's great deal, they cost about 1400 new, I would still rather get the dyno's but again they're about 1200, and that makes quite a difference in price. Either way both of them are excellent monitors. I'll be using for the darker side of psytrance, i think they'll be a good companion
