8 synths, covering a few analogue, a few hardware digital and a few software digital.
Same MIDI file, no EQ, no compression, no processing what so ever, just the raw sound.
All synths have the same peak value in order to demonstrate perceived loudness.

Synth 1

Synth 2

Synth 3

Synth 4

Synth 5

Synth 6

Synth 7

Synth 8

Let's forget about which is analog, hardware digital, software digital, ROMpler for a minute....I'd be interested to see which ones people prefer to see whether it is worth for some people to spend money on expensive analogue monosynths, or not.

I'm a little picky on number 2, it's a little tubby

But 1 and 8 for sure!            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

some patch are too different,i think 4 5 could maybe really nice but it sound very drived, too loud, tough 5 sound kinda plastic
show well than what matter the most is how the tools are used more than the tools themself.

all decent but i didn t like 6 7 8 (es1)?

No ES-1 in these examples.
And yes some patches are different, and obviously sound very raw as they are completely unprocessed.

But I thought it would be an informative thread to people who are thinking about spending cash on expensive synths, or not.

Obviously this is one basic type of bass programming, but you can at least hear the synths timbre and also it a good test for me, to see that some synths sound louder than others, for a given peak level.

Yes I have the project saved and will post it on here when you guys want me to share the information on which synth is which.

yeah but these are too loud to go with the kick so not many will pick them i guess even if maybe it sound great at lower level , it make it hard to judge.
after relistening i would be happy with any from l 12345

agreed, although its good to have a source that sounds loud for a given peak level, means you can have a louder track over all.
