Microsoft probably waits for Intel P5 to release for make global 64xp version and not for AMD only .
I don't think it will affect us i near future , just more CPU power till 64bit sound comes out !
Am i right ? |

Sektor-->There is no connection between the bit depth of sound cards and CPU bit rates.
M-Audio already released 64bit compatible drivers for their products. And the rest will surely soon to follow.
So no problems here.

hehe.,., but 64 bits on a soundcard is pretty useless i think.,
they should make 64 bits PLUGINS and SEQUENCERS !.,
the final sound will propably not be higher than 24 bits anyway so no use to make the soundcards 64 bits., (the convertors anyway)

Misunderstanding - The mother of all fuck ups.
Donno about 64bit Plugins and Sequencers.
I'd like to see more code efficient software.
Like Reason for example.

I do think that 24bit is pretty enough for sound export (final) but it would be great to see 64bit VSTi and Sequencers soon .
I think Steinberg guys working on it.
Pavel what do you mean by code efficient software , why Cubase or Logic are not code efficient ? |

reason can be heavily optimise because it's a closed system.,
vst on the other hand alows interfacing with 3rd party software., so the sequencer needs to be more robust and needs to do a lot more checking and interfacing., so it's inherently slower and bigger.,
furthermore 'big' sequencers have a lot more functionality so the program itself will be much more complicated than something like reason.,
therefore it will be more resource hungry.,
so it's a nessesary evil and doesnt mean that the code is not optimal.,
reason is just a different kind of product under the hood.,
