The transmogrification commences in the shimmering, vibrant hills of the Ozarks one week from today! Seriously looking forward to seeing the beginning of the permagrinning, firespinning, etc. This will be a rager to be reckoned with! Arkansas and Esoteric Gen welcomes all compatriots from every corner of North America (and indeed the globe) to our beautiful, sacred naturescape... Lets stomp our collective energies deep into the Hollow and make merry once again!

Brimming with joy,

Just a reminder to everyone going out there... Bring a jacket... Last year was very fun, but it got pretty cold at night as I remember.

Wish I could make it... Iguana's set should be a ripper.

Yes, bring warm clothes. I froze my ass off last year! I thought the south was supposed to be warm!

I haven't seen directions posted, here is what I am going to do:

Directions I have is that I google to ar-16e, Fayetteville, AR then follow directions:

Located approx 15 miles from Fayetteville AR: Take Hwy 16 East... Go through Elkins, through Durham, then look CAREFULLY for the Hog Ridge Hollow sign on the RIGHT. Make your way up the dirt road for approx. 2 miles and you're THERE!

Ive just woken up from the fourth in a series of well-deserved naps and have the coffee brewing so I guess its time to crank out a brief review of the crazy-ass weekend out at Hog Ridge!

First of all BIG THANKS TIMES 10000 to Casey Freedom and Shelley for making this entire thing possible. These two risekd life, limb, and financial secutirty basically out of the goodness of their hearts to make Spectra Inertia come together and indeed we are all blessed to have such dedicated, energetic people at the helm of the Esoteric Generation! Thanks again and again you guys!!!

The stage:
Decoration came together in the nick of time as usual and on behalf of the collective energy of many different people. Massive thanks to Jarryd, Shagee, Alex, and the Wilderness Technologies posse from Kansas especially for the second night making the stage simply shimmer! The dancefloor space was a flouro-visual circus of activity and really set the mood to allow people to just zoom into hyperspace, trying to or not... Pics to come. Also, big up the one like Jason Sterling for keeping the soundsystem pulsating throughout the hills of the Ozarks... You made everything possible icon_smile.gif

Matt Jenkins:
Nice set. Started off the festival with nothing less than the fullest of the on. Many people from out of state were commenting that it was a "good sign" to hear such dark-ass neuro-psytrance at the VERY beginning of the whole escapade... Keep up the craziness.

Psylens:
Undoubtedly one of my favorite sets this year. I hadnt heard anything like some of the chimey, plinky melodic stuff you dropped over some thick, dreamy-creamy pudding basslines. Much more approprate material for the time of evening. It was cool to have some Metameme representation and especially cool meeting your girl and playing some glow frisbee in the wee-hours. You guys are fantastic.

Goaneck:
This cat NEVER dissappoints. This was the first time to hear Jake playing this specific subgenre of psytrance. Just enough crunchy, chunky dementia mixed with the perfect amount of floaty atmospheric musicality. This set seriously got the dancefloor starting to flip-out, with people beginning to run amok, spilling some marbles out their domes in the process. Id never heard the vast majority of that stuff whick kept me on my toes for sure. Really nice stomping with you on Saturday night as well... A much needed presence on the concrete. Too bad we didnt get the curry hooked up... Perhaps next time.

Kaiser Soze:
Im not sure what to say... I wandered off the stage near the end of Jakes set and as I was sitting kibbitzing down yonder I began to realize that the music was getting REALLY nasty. Someone asked "you ever heard Kaiser Soze play? He's on right now". After moseying back up the hill I proceeded to be kicked in the motherfucking TEETH by this maniac from Chicago. Nothing but the freaky, wobbly neuro-power tracks from the likes of Freaking, Kindzadza, Psyfactor, etc. The floor was really starting to get pack during this set and anything less would have been a shame.

Naked Toursit:
WHAT THE BLEEDING HELL!!! This cat brough nothing but the MADNESS. True nighttime slammers and stompers with a LARGE HELPING of funkiness swirlled in for good measure. Bjorn stands about 6'10" and was towering over the 100's which looked like mere knobs in comparison. PLENTY ofd new material from Naked Tourist, and of course some of the sickest nighttime killers to be sure. Highlights for me included "Zombifert","Lunatic Asylum" (an Arkansas FAVORITE) and the recent noggin-knocker "Its Me Mario"... I swear I found the warp-zone and at least made the rounds throughout a couple secret levels before the eight-bit psychosis tapered off. The last track (I think by Osom) was a MOTHERFUCKING SLAMMER! Too much wackiness for one jam if you ask me. Had the floor in convulsions to be sure. Also, Bjorn was one of the nicest, funniest dudes ever. Bring him back.

Deep Fryer:
It was fun. Dancefloor was responsive and simply freaking the fuck out. I almost danced into the cinderblocks a couple times, but somehow managed to maintain

Sensi:
Very nice to meet the one and only DJ representing the dirty, dirty Saint Louis! Had nothing but the wicked, tribalistic grinders... Swooshy, rolling chunky basslines and the perfect groove-factor to take it down a notch and make ready for the morning. I barely recognized any of his music but considering the sheer depth and quality of the sounds was in awe. Sensi's sound comes like a sonic tsunami, humming and building and whooshing across the Hollow. Really cool hangin gout working the door in the morning too. He almost regulated on this knave trying to fanagle an armband which was a riot. Much love

Fatty Acid:
Tha man made it all the way from Montana and fought off the sandman in true Esoteric fashion. No stranger to the festival environment, Jarryd stood up to the rising sun and brought down the wall of fog with his signature, sterling, shimmering morning sounds. Heard some crispy Fractal Glider, Melica, etc. beautifully seamed together with a bit of crunchy dusk tunes to keep the Hollow vibrating. BY FAR the best set from our man Fatty Acid IMHO and props to this trooper for making the drive down and helpign us turn HRH into a psychocircus once again.

(Sleep, sleep, sleep.... 10 hourse later...)

SATURDAY:

I missed a lot of music whilst taking some of the out-of-towners around Elkins to get provisions... Rolled up in time to hear the tail end of Illectrons set which seemed to have the dancefloor in a frenzy already. Jeff if one of the most astut, talented DJ's in the family and has some extra goodies in the works for the F-Ville trancer community to be sure

Synchronious Oscillation Technology vs Derby:
These two guys are really fun to hang out with and kept their musical proclivities pretty much under wraps all the way up until their set. Plenty of banging, chunky, builders... seeping with a growing sense of chaos and darkness to tantalize the increasingly ferocious dancefloor. SOT and Derby stared at their monitors with such an intensity... Playing whrring, bubbling slammers but gradually working this angle so as not to shock the crowd into submission. Plenty of freaky madness from both and a little extra smattering of goodness from Derby solo at the end. Good work boys and thanks for coming all the way down.

Deviant Species:
First of all, this guy (Santos) is pretty physically intimidating... His facial expression and demeanor was that of a cantankerous physicist trying to demonstrate some bizarre principle to a classroom full of ignoramouses. The man absolutely WRECKED HOUSE musically, and was putting together new material even up until the moment he left Casey's house... Dedicated for real. The dancefloor went ABSOLUTELY wild as one by one Santos gave every single person within earshot a fucking lobotomy with some of the most metallic, slinky chunky tech-trance ever heard in the South. Santos was a merciless killer and in true form kept us all held tightly in the Hands of the Randomizer, with the crispest, cleanest sound all the way. We didnt hear too much from the fist album, but instead some SCREAMING new madness from Deviant Species. One set never to forget!

Solomoon:
Representing on his home territory, Solomoon is one of the original founders of Esoteric Gen. Needless to say he brought it back HOME from Colorado after making his rounds playing several festivals around the nation in recent weeks/months. Solomoons set was a welcomed change of pace from the psychosis wrought by Deviant Species and set the perfect atmosphere thoughout the Hollow with some much needed melody. Squirmy, twirling synth riffs, ripping staccato lines, and some of the most intricate drumwork made for the perfect sonic environment. Towards the end some of the arpegiiations were getting downright nasty, taking us all to new heights and never relenting even for the likes of Shagee and Casey

Freedom and Shagee:
Um, well, where should I start... The Sunday sun was just beginning to creep up when I saw the second dreadlocked behemoth meandering on stage. With a look in his eyes I have never before seen, Shagee began to dissassemble the psyches of anyone still left alive. And man, were there a lot still alive. An extended date with the theme from Clockwork Orange was the medium by which he reeled us all back in... The little white mannequin thing set the mood even nicer like a full-on Cordova Milk Bar on the stage! The space program continued as Freedom and Shagee proceeded to massacre the living and bury the dead with some of their signature music to freak the fuck out by. The dancefloor was on fire as the dun began to rise... they kept ticking away, cracking the fabric of space and time and marking their territory like rabid squid with a haze of black, sonic ink. Nothing short of the madness we have all come to expect from the dymanic duo

Anyone I forgot, sorry. Couldnt hear all the sets this weekend and wasnt ABLE to make it to play on the second stage. Ended up having to work quite a bit more than I had anticipated but it was all for the BEST cause imaginable. Lets keep this energy going and never allow for an end to the INERTIA

Pics soon
