personally... i tend to listen to the finished track alot. for the next week or so, because if i can't enjoy it then what;s the point in having made it hehe  + i tend to carry a CD around with me so I can speaker test it on as many systems as I come across...

Last summer, I was mixing an 11 mins chill-out track.
After working over 16 hrs, I can't help falling into sleep.
In the 5AM morning, I can only listen to the track till 3'00(maybe earlier)....when I wake up, I saw the transport showing the cursor is running to almost 1000 bars.
I think this is the fewest-times-listening track in my experience.
If a track length is 4 mins, so you can hear the full length track 15 times in an hours at most.
During an 8 hours mixing, you will hear 120 times at most.
So I think produce a track will hear it at least 1000 times.

hi..
a killer killer tip to all producers!
after you think you have finished your track, load it in sounforge or something and reverse it. than listen again. you will notice mistakes in your mixing, (if you have mistakes of course) that you didn't hear while listening in normal way. because when u listen normal, you get bored of listening it hundreds of times, and it becomes hard to concentrate on the sound.
also u will have much fun and new insiration =) |

and maybe bounce it without kick/bass and after the reversing, import it to your seq again, add the kick and bass and you have a rmx

this is soooo correct... the smartest thing i read in this thread... Don't listen to it 100 times or 1000 times, just leave it be for a day or two and then listen to it, then u hear more in 1 listen then in 20 listens right after u finished working on it. |
