WOW! Absolutely FANTASTIC party. One of my favorites for sure.

The location:

The venue itself was pretty sweet. I enjoyed it thoroughly (even though I never actually walked over to the alt. area... because the psy area was so good all night). The shuttles were a mixed boat. I will say that the drivers and shuttles themselves were FANTASTIC, and THANK YOU to everybody who helped out with that. But with the great turn out, we really needed like 2 more shuttles going. We had to wait 40min to get there, and 40 minutes to get back waiting for shuttles. Not that I hold this against anybody involved; it was a hurdle of the party but nothing that ruined the time. If anything it's just something that could be worked on.

The Music:

AMAZING MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG, I CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH!

We got into the party around 2:30am, and so we missed everybody who played before that; including Konflux who we were dying to see. xD

When we got there, KIVA was playing. I saw him playing his "new style" the last time as well. But in all honesty, I can't say it was my favorite stuff. BUT THIS TIME was a different story. Just about everything I heard him play was fantastic. I really like that deep night style psy when it's still groovy and has a bit of spare melody mixed in (or more importantly melodic basslines). This set definitely delivered in all departments. I have to say, this might have been my favorite set of the night. Thanks Kiva.

Spyros was up next. I really enjoyed what he played as well. I liked this style of music for Spyros moreso than other sets I've heard from him. I think it really hit the mark in my book. It got a bit deeper and grittier than Kiva's at the beginning, but then ended up coming up for some light as the first bit of light peaked over the mountain tops. The melodic glitchy electro stuff near the end was KILLER. Thanks Spyros.

Joti Sidhu was up next. I was unable to keep track of when he was playing a "DJ Set" and when he was playing a "Live Set." I know the music got proggier towards the middle of his set, and that's usually what I remember him for (proggy full-on?); so maybe that was it. Overall I really enjoyed his whole set. This was a good headliner. It was deep, moody, progressive, but with full-on flare. It was melodic, uplifting, and interesting. I know that some of the people I talked to didn't like what he was playing so much, I personally enjoyed it. He hits a good mark for early morning full-on, or late morning full-on leading to progressive; I think both would work well. Thanks Joti.

After this details became sketchy. I caught the beginning of Barakuda's set, which was nice. It put us back into deeper edgier stuff and added variety. I got caught up talking to several people at the party and eventually ended up going to sleep for a couple hours. When I woke up, I wasn't sure who was playing.

The person who was playing when I woke up (11:30ish so I guess it would be Bypass) was playing some REALLY good Full-On. I was hearing some stuff that I would normally NOT hear at a party such as this. (Astrix tracks?!?! ) I enjoy this style of music, so rock on.

The people:

Most everybody there was great! (minus the guy who tried to rip down the tree on the dance floor wtf?!?!). I saw a lot of new heads at this party, and the raver element was definitely there (I saw glowsticking and "light sabers" as soon as I walked onto the dance floor). But everybody I met was well behaved. None of them were "too young" to be out partying (unless you count the 4 year old kid wandering around all night), and they seemed to be respectful of the whole environment, the people, and the music. The new people there seemed to really be enjoying themselves (I talked to a few of them who said as much).

All the regulars, and new people I've met were good to see as always. Until next time my friends!

Here is one of the videos I took. I may upload more later. Excuse the poor quality.

And look, we're a hit on the regular rave board! Manny and Kevin are practically celebrities.

This was a awesome party in many respects. The vibe was much more family style i think than most of the LA parties. It reminded me very much more of the early days at the ranch.

The venue was very nice, and the smaller dancefloor just amplified and compressed the energy. Which made for many more smiling faces of friends and family.

though i do think a few things need to be fined tuned with the place, but being the 1st go at it, you never learn these things till later.

Figuring out the timing and frequency of the shuttles is the most obvious, but the other glaring issue is light for the porto-potties. I dont think they would have been so bad if there was any illumination, but being a moonless night, etc etc... you get the idea.
Other than that though i like the spot, its beautiful and its smaller size makes for better vibes i think.

Musically... I was disapointed by Joti this time around. It seemed he would play 3 un-interesting tracks followed by 1 amazing monster track. So the good track would pull you to the floor, but then hed follow it up again with another sequence of sleepers.
and repeat. So you could never lock onto a good groove, Very frustrating. Kinda like getting a blowjob from a girl whos jaws gets tired every 30 seconds.

I did like both Barakuda and Spyro's sets, though i think this time around Sentient had the set of the party, followed closely by Christine.

Hope that there will be more at this spot, im certainly looking forward to it

This was my first SoCal party actually, and it was fabulous overall.

I wish I would have met more people, but I was tired from the drive, and I can be shy at parties..

but it was cool to see my homies sentient, christine, aeon, larry paradigm, connor, anne....pee wee...hold on, was i really in SoCal?

Joti was good, I love it when he gives it to me techy style; ie sounds like minimal techno sped up to 145 with a lead thrown in. His full on stuff is OK, but he's obviously still has tremendous ability.

I've never heard Kiva, but his set was very very good. The guy has skills.

Konflux was great, very cerebral and evolving music.

Brian and Christine spun excellent sets; i did my best to dance but I was soo fu**ing pooped by that time.

I really love the vibe in SoCal. I can't believe I held out for so long; or another way of putting it, lazy for so long...I missed out on the ranch stuff....but this location is t*ts. Hope to come down to more.

You should see the La Jolla Indian Reservation.

Come to the next party that's held there. It's my favorite outdoor venue to date.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN

Hey Rob, it was cool to meet you (I ran into you in the morning with Aeon). You look surprisingly like your avatar. Mad props for making the drive for an overnighter. It is inspiring for me to make more of an effort to see what's up in norcal. See you at Gemini?

Although the crowd wasn't there, I feel it worth mentioning that the tunes at the other music area were also top notch. I was back and forth a lot and found it hard to leave either area once I got there.

I missed seeing you Aeon, but I agree with your assessment of the party.

Nice to meet you too. Interestingly, my avatar was created at the southparkstudios.com website (as you could have guessed)...but it was from their random avatar generator. I kept hitting the random button, and that one came up. i kept that one b/c it looked like me!

Yeah the drive up and down for an overnighter was brutal, especially considering I had to do all the driving as my friend didn't drive manual.

Unfortunately I have to miss Gemini prior performance comittment on the 13th; i'm doing a guitar and cello recital.

We dance again under the stars,
We look like funny avatars
The music flowing through the night
Into the breezy morning light.

Psytribe, i thank you from my heart,
For this small island, where art,
And trees, and music, all conspire
To satisfy our desire
For play, and happiness and fun!
Ok, my rhymes are now done.

It was a great party! Thanks to all who came out, helped out, rocked out, and passed out. And there were many. What a great freakin' location, hopefully we will be back there soon!

Pics have been posted at www.psytribe.com/pix - upload yours if you've got them.

Also, lots of videos from the party here: http://www.youtube.com/user/xtcdreamz and here: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1100865253774&ref=nf

Till the next one, much love from NYC.

You are so right about that! And this is considering I have only seen you with your long hair in a ponytail, which tends to make someone look like they have short hair. Eye shape and hair length are how I recognize people. I am tripping that I didn't recognize you if I did see you. OH well. Hey! Say hi next time so that I might have a chance. Be seeing you in two weeks as I see your handle (META) listed on the Gemini list.

I'll print up some more of my sayings for the bumper stickers and get one to you. In the meantime, grow it back.

"Friends don't let friends get haircuts!"

"Ten minutes to have short hair, three years to have long hair. Who's making the greater commitment?"

"Baldness causes hat wearing."

"Grey hair is better than no hair."

"Avoid people with scissors."

"Julio's Law: Never follow a route bus."

"KEVIN's corollary to Julio's Law: If there's route bus in your lane, change lanes."

"If your feet ain't happy, you ain't happy."

"He who hesitates, waits."

Hmm, is it a good bet for me to assume that if I see *CHRISTINE* you might be in attendance?           - - -

This explains why you looked at me like some kind of weirdo when I gave you a hug at StimuLA.
