I wanted to share something that my friend Ken wrote the other night. He is just recently getting into this music and has some fresh thoughts about it (he has yet to go to a party. but someday!)

I was listening to philosomatica just now. And was thinking it would be really neat if you could spin around in three dimensions while listening to it. Or maybe be in some kind of motion simulator.
You could leave the music stereo stable relative to you, so you and the music would be "traveling" together, sonically. Or, you could somehow program stuff so it would sound like you were traversing a universe of sounds. All the while you'd be basically in a stationary location.
I guess visuals could be in there too.. but maybe not necessary, maybe even not good?
Maybe simpler. Maybe we could make a stationary stereo image digital broadcast, relative to the room... and the person could have headphones that would automatically adjust for angles, etc, giving you whatever environment you want inside the headphones, or maybe speakers stationed basically 360 degrees in the room. Processing would be tough there. Hm.. Do they do surround sound at the parties? Be a shame if they didn't.
What do you think?
really nice voice stuff on philo right now. just voice sounds... or maybe it's in russian, and since I don't know they are saying, "baby, do me. d-d-d-do me" I'm fine with it.

I think, its not nescessary.
When I listen to trance and concentrate - I get images in my head - If I close my eyes, I dream and visualize whatever my imagination conjures up.
So, getting some aparatus to do it for me, would not really be nescessary
And, if Im not really that deep into trance, then it will be because Im being social, or theres something that needs my attention - so I couldnt be wired into that device anyway.
While I think such a device could be interesting (I would definately try it) - I do think its better to learn to fall into a deeper trance, meditate sort of and let your mind do the travelling, and not a computer.

I couldn't agree more. I don't think we need to improve upon the tried and true dancing and listening to music. Maybe I just don't fully understand your post, rich. If you're talking about a virtual reality like device where people could build parties online and everyone could "tap in" to them, I guess that would be useful for people who don't live in a place where there are a lot psy parties. But by the time that technology would be available people would already be doing a lot more than going to parties in the virtual realm. |

Its interesting cause I have that notion too. I relate certain types of frequencys with diferent types of colors, BUT, its a totally unconscious thing.. And the moment you try to focus on it to decode the color/frequency pattern it all gets blury and you loose that notion.
I dont know if theres any scientific research on this? |

I know exactly what you guys are speaking of, but if i just maintain focus it will stay all of the time...i can even get it to go with my eyes open....thats just awesome. never seen stuff so pretty.
